Before I went to bed yesterday, I started brainstorming how I want to be better this year and I wanted to share just a few of my goals with ya✨✨
1. More YouTube videos so you guys can get to know me more on a personal level ( @marshmentality )
2. As silly as this sounds, I want to adventure out more and see friends a lot more than I do. I need to learn how to have fun sometimes 🤷🏼‍♀️
3. Continue to learn more so I am able to give you guys the best information and content possible😌

Tonight’s workout consisted of heavy volume for upper body. I was sore throughout the whole workout but it’s imperative for me to finish just as strong as I started. Feels good to be back home where it all started. Regular planks are fun and what not, but try these weighted planks while trying to crawl as far as you can without having the weights fall. To be able to take progress photos for a show is something I haven’t done since 2014. With the 50lbs+ I gained from my health issues, I envisioned myself having the ability to get back to this moment in life again. I won’t lie, giving up came to mind so many times. I was ashamed even and it showed through my social media. I always covered up at the gym and was even wearing hoodies in the middle of summer while lifting! I shouldn’t have been ashamed but I allowed it to be a reminder to never give up. My struggles taught me patience, something I NEVER had before. My struggles taught me to trust myself, something I never did before. I put my trust in myself, God and timing. Knowing one day, I would be able to get back to where I am at now. I’m thankful for the struggles I went through because it gave me the ability to understand the struggles of others. People who struggle with weight loss, hormonal imbalances, thyroid issues, constant fatigue, depression, and so much more. Here’s to a new week and giving it my all. My body responded so quickly in the beginning because I had never followed a nutrition plan or worked out a day in my life. I never played sports or anything in school either. I was completely fresh to being active and healthy! My body really took off and that's when I fell in love with fitness! The process, the discipline, the changes, the patience, the drive. All of it! Had back and bi’s this morning and was texting with @jarrettwbond22 right away at 4:30am because he’s the only other person awake at that time (other than @tommy_novotny) and he challenged me to do a 500m row at the end of my work out and try to get under 2 min. CHALLENGE ON – holy crap the rowing machine is HARD AF, ended up getting 2:03 min (obvi super annoyed I didn’t get under 2). Going to start doing this every single back day as a little finisher – S/O to Jarrett for making me step outside the box! 🙌🏼🙌🏼

I GET BY WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM MY FRIENDS

The past few weeks have been very good to me. I have noticed a monumental shift in my progress.

I am now starting to notice changes on a weekly progress. Which hasn’t really happened in a long time.

I have changed a few things up: i tightened up my nutrition, dialed in my training and stayed pretty consistent.

BUT THE BIGGEST GAME CHANGER FOR ME WAS WHEN I DECIDED TO START USING SUPPLEMENTS FROM @1stphorm 
I rarely used supplements in the past year because honestly, I had bigger things to take care of such as my consistency with nutrition, training and loving myself.

Even when I used some supplements during that time, I quickly stopped using them because I was not feeling a difference. 
Once I felt good in the important areas in my transformation, then I said to myself that I’m ready to turn the dial up a bit.

I found 1st phorm through their athlete search. It wasn’t the products that hooked me at first, it was the mission statement. And when I watched their video, I immediately fell in love with the company because they preached how it was not about what you look like, it’s about your heart. And to me, that falls right in line with my beliefs.

So I took a chance and have been testing the products on myself for the past few weeks.

IT HAS MADE A HUGE DIFFERENCE IN HOW I FEEL AND MY OWN ENERGY LEVELS DURING WORKOUTS.

This couldn’t have come at a better time in my life. And I’m excited to see what happens after another few months with 1st phorm by my side.

Gotta give it up to my man Creighton we’ve only been training for a solid month and as you can see he hasn’t lost that much weight but more importantly body fat % is down about 5% and he’s losing the fat in his waist/thighs! There were a lot of party’s I went to that I never ate. While everyone was stuffing their face with cake, asking why I’m just sitting alone twiddling my thumbs. .

Yes, of course, it’s good to take a break and just enjoy things. .

But every time I was in a position that would throw me off course. .

I’ve had high anxiety for as long as I can remember and a couple of years ago I was at a high point with stress and panic attacks. I had never been an athletic kid. I tried art, drama, band, just about anything to not have to do any physical activity in middle/high school 😂. I started my own events and promotions company and a majority of our profit (which we gave back to charities), came from our weekly Friday night events that I would help bartend. I was out late three to four times a week, always drinking. I ate out almost every day. I was stressed all the time and for awhile I didn’t noticed the lifestyle effecting me or my body at all. Then I looked in the mirror one day and noticed I was a good 20 lbs heavier than I had ever been in my life. So, I decided this non athletic body of mine was going to hit the gym. I started going to the gym for aesthetic reasons. I wanted to feel confident again. What I didn’t expect, was that the gym would honestly change my life. Of course, it started as a battle. I would go for a couple days, then not at all.  I would complain I wasn’t getting anywhere and just be over it. I didn’t understand what all these machines were really for, if I had proper form,  if everyone was staring at me because I looked like an idiot. So I decided to go on @bodybuildingcom, and then hire a personal trainer at one of the local gyms. I wanted to learn about proper nutrition to lose weight and how to properly work the weight room with confidence. That’s when it all set in for me. That’s when it lit a fire in me and I loved the gym. I loved seeing my body go back down in weight, I loved picking up weights and actually feeling like a strong woman, I loved learning so much about food I never would have cared to learn before.  There was an obvious shift in my mood. I found something i truly felt I might actually be good at, something I grew passionate about. We all know the college stories of freshmen 15. I obtained the freshman 20. I have tons of photos locked away in my old lab top of who i was in the past. My whole lifestyle had to change. My mindset had to change; my day to day routine. I didn’t love myself, I wasn’t confident, and deep down wasn’t happy. I don’t really remember how it happened but i woke up one day and wanted a change. I started jogging. 2 miles became 3 then became 5. I started making healthier choices with food & cutting back on alcohol. I had a clearer vision around me of what I wanted and who I was around. The weight training  didn’t come into play yet but I knew I had to start somewhere. .

It changed relationships to a great extent. I wanted better for my life & I wanted someone in my life to be apart of that healthier lifestyle and support that. That was hard to accomplish when you are in college. .

I ended up only doing 2 years at 4 year college and switched to a smaller college to get my associates degree. I then got a job and worked at a gym for 5 years. I wanted to be around that lifestyle of bettering yourself every day and even though where I worked took also a negative turn, I am thankful for working there & learning more about myself. .

Don’t give up on yourself. There will be hard times. Question is, how bad do you want to change? What will you do? Don’t be afraid to ask or pray 💞 don’t be afraid to wake up and start over. .

It was my daughter's 1st year acutally being able to recognize Santa, she did get shy once on his lap though😄 But watching her excitement build up as we stood in line getting closer and closer was the most amazing thing to experience. 
My son on the other hand is a pro, he walked up there sat on Santa's lap and said right into his eye's I need a laptop 😎😂 •

wide grip underhand push-ups- this is great for a finisher exercise at the end of your workout! I used the wide grip handles and put my hands in a supine position (underhand) then just went through the motion as a normal push-up. This is going to target the lower chest very well! The stretch is insane! Try it out! Throw something different in your workout! Shock your muscles!

Okay so I worked at Hooters (lol obviously) and it was a blast. My final year of working there I was in college at LSU where I was practicing aerial silks 3 times a week, working out 7 days a week and dance training over the weekend. So when the bikini contest rolled around my senior year, knowing it'd be the last one I did, I decided- I'm going to get a SIX PACK. Everyone thought I was full of shit, but 6 weeks out I started eating clean and training hard. I followed my bodybuilder friends diets, read every single nutritional label on every single thing I ate. I was incredibly strict and never cheated. .

I didn't win the contest, but I got my six pack and it was so fun being so disciplined and accomplishing something and seeing my body change. .
.
I know a lot of people can write me off, "what does this girl know about fitness?" But I look how I want to look now. Lean and toned it's my overall desire and I'm super happy this way. But don't get it twisted- I've done the crazy diets before and I know what I'm doing. .
.
The photo on the right is my stomach the day after my bikini contest after I ate a ton of carbs I hadn't had in weeks. I still think it's insane I did that but it was one thing I'm still super proud I was able to pull off. .
.
I love @1stPhorm because they recognize athleticism and fitness goals of different types of people. The dads trying to get in shape, the new mothers recovering from childbirth, body builders... all hold a place of value with #1stPhorm and that's something I really admire. .

It's amazing how responsive the horse is to the human body. Literally every movement you make and everything you do has some sort of reaction with the horse (whether they react or not is a different topic!) But we as humans do a very good job of numbing our senses to the world so that we don't have any idea of where our body is and what it is doing.

There is a concept called proprioception, which by definition is "The unconscious perception of movement and spatial orientation arising from stimuli within the body itself." How does one develop this and why is it important with horses? You develop this by stimulating the nerves ( i.e. Using them and making them work). And this is super important with horses because if you could be so aware of what your body is doing that all you have to do is squeeze a muscle in your calf to generate a reaction from your horse, wouldn't that be awesome? .
Not everyone in the horse industry is blessed to be born into it. Some join later in life. Some take a break and come back. So by taking the time out of the saddle to learn about your body you can positively influence your time in it when you climb back on.

True story... I used to go to the same place every morning to get coffee. There was a young girl who worked the counter that was shy and appeared to have very little self esteem. She wore big glasses, had freckles and was a bit overweight. She NEVER made direct eye contact with any of the customers as she rang them up...EVER!

One morning while I was on duty I stopped in for a coffee. As she rung me up I purposely said (loudly) “GUESS WHAT?”
.
I said it so loud she almost jumped...plus I was in uniform 👮🏽 She looked up and replied, softly, “yes.” And I said, “You have really nice eyes. You should really look up more often.” And I walked out!!
.
From that day on, every time I walked in she would look up, smile and say, “Hi Officer Madhavan.” She looked like a whole new person! In fact, she was looking up and smiling at all the customers now!

But here’s the truth...I NEVER KNEW WHAT HER EYES EVEN LOOKED LIKE!! But I knew I had to say something to trigger her biology...and that was it!

What’s the moral of the story? The smallest actions can leave a lasting impact on someone’s world.
