I've been reading #johnberger initially no more than curious after his death. The #Marxism is strangely refreshing and requiring of purpose. "Since 1848 every artist unready to be a mere paid entertainer has tried to resist... the transformation of the spiritual value of his work into property value... what constructivism, Dadaism, Surrealism, and so on, all shared was their opposition to art-as-property and art-as-cultural-alibi-for-existing-society". The book is worth reading for one essay alone "the moment of #cubism " and why C20 art is so engrossing: "cubism broke the illusionist three-dimensional space which had existed in painting since the Renaissance... it broke its continuity... the picture surface acts in a Cubist painting as the constant which allows us to appreciate the variables... the forms portrayed never present themselves as a totality. The totality is the surface of the picture which is now the origin and sum of all that one sees. The viewing point of Renaissance perspective ...has become a field of vision which is the picture itself."

🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹
🇬🇧 Alice is an oil on canvas painting (78x39 cm) by Amedeo Modigliani, made in 1918 and housed today at the Statens Museum for Kunst, Copenhagen. Modigliani is a very famous painter due to his characteristic portraits that, inspired by African masks and medieval art, form an idiom made up of simplified, elongated shapes. Among them he painted also many children like the beautiful Alice, portrayed with a bright contrast of colours and remarkable for some fine details like the cross on the chest and the delicate crossed hands. The title was given by Modigliani himself on the top left, as was his custom. 🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹 ⠀ 🏛Aiutaci a far conoscere il nostro Patrimonio🏛
Oh, you guys liked that last one? Lol. OK.
Now you're gonna wanna pay attention to these Sound Images.
But first, I'm in this show on Saturday and would appreciate if you guys come through... I feel hypocritical for doing this because I don't always show support but admitting is the first step, right? Link in bio.
I've always been intrigued by the #philosophical theory that "everything is everything in different forms" (paraphrasing here).
So, I have always explored that in my #art , whether it's acting as both a #painter and a #musician , or labeling my #erotic#art as porn and posting it on porn hub (my professors and peers ripped me apart for this). These #pieces you're looking at here further this inquiry. I took pictures of a couple old #paintings and ran them through an #audio#software (#audacity ) and edited them as I would edit vocals. Surprisingly, the #pictures were displayed as #sounds would and thus emitted sounds when put in the software. In simpler words, your instagram pictures have sounds, and those sounds can in turn be translated to #images , or more like #glitch images.
P. S. I'm performing, not painting.
