As far as my editing these days, here's what I do. I hold the camera screen right up to the computer screen after opening Lightroom. If the image looks darker on desktop screen, I make a minor adjustment to exposure and sharpening to make sure it looks just like it does on the camera screen. That's what I shot, that's what I saw on the screen in the dark when I shot it, that's what I want it to look like in print. That is all!
