#FBF Ran my first half marathon this year on Sunday, March 3rd at the Livermore #halfmarathon . Special thanks to @nuunhydration for the entry. They are an unbelievable amazing hydration company that I'd highly recommend to anyone. Loved using it on the Pacific Crest Trail and while running.
I haven't ran that long distance in over one year but I used to backpack 25-28 miles a day with sub-30lb pack. We didn't take zeros (day off) only two-half days (10-13 miles) in a row, tops as a break.
At the half marathon, I felt weightless and I felt like I was floating down the trail. I had a smile on my face the entire time. The craziest thing I recognized is how running is 90% mental because after the PCT this race and all the uphills didn't phase myself. I told myself "all is good", and I focused getting passed mile by mile.
As a reminder, I was a runner since I was 12. I'm 29 and I've ran countless races for cross country, track, 5ks, 10ks, and now 15x halfs. Still, it is an awakening to come back to running with a reminder how it is 90% mental.
My results: 2:06, 9:41 per mile. I started off 8:41 for the first 7 miles, then obviously did 10:41 for the last half.
With little training I'm proud of myself. I want to continue challenging myself and pushing the limits this year. It's awesome what the body can do when you say "I'm going to do it, and conquer whatever else in my way!" 😊💁💪

Okay so I planned on getting my ass up and jogging about a quarter mile. I have a route in my neighborhood along with the Map My Run App. Anyway turns out it was a half mile to my spot and so I decided to turn around and keep going back to my house! So I did a mile in 11:10. Not bad for not planning to do much of anything. I feel good! My street is torn up due to road work and I don’t want to twist an ankle so that will do.
