Like rock, be formed, like rock be patient. This strange series of graphite pieces is finally starting to take shape in my mind. It’s funny how with art making you struggle with how to articulate what you’re making. The art flows out, but it takes awhile to decide what it means, and what its place is. With these, I consistently have this image of rock in my mind. Of formation, resistance, growth and evolution. The last couple years have been full of change and it always feels so slow. But with focus, one day at a time, one mark at a time, one step at a time, eventually you look back and realize how much has changed, and how much you’ve grown. I think rocks are like this - they evolve, and form based on the environment around them and resistance that challenges them. They stay true to who they are, but they form and change and evolve slowly. This is creation, and this is growth 🙌🏼
