Training De-load ⬇️
This week is a training de-load in the gym for me.
From now onwards and moving forwards I'm going to make a conscious effort to implement a de-load into my schedule every 4th week of training (possibly 5th). Why? Because as natural my body recovers a lot slower than someone assisted and as a natural recovery is possibly one of the most influential factors towards growth.
So what is this De-load witchcraft⁉️
Plain and simple, a de-load is short period of recovery. You reduce your training intensity, volume and overall workload in the gym.
Why would I De-load, I've got gains to chase bro⁉️
When trying to gain muscle mass and increase strength overload your body and CNS takes a BEATING! Think of this analogy - "You can only drive a car so far with 1 tank of petrol", your body is the same as a machine. You need to re-fuel, maintain and re-pair any damages in order to take that long trip ahead. Sometimes you need to take 1 step backwards in order to take 2, even 3 steps forwards!
Okay man you got me, how do I De-load⁉️
Simply reduce numbers. As a guide all sets should be performed at 40-60% intensity. Also look to reduce total working sets by half! Another good way to de-load is to select more isolated exercises over the bigger compounds.
I'm on board bro, when do I De-load⁉️
Either schedule one in at the end of the month for a week or when:
1. You find yourself actually getting weaker in the gym
2. Your joints start to feel sore and inflamed
3. You have ZERO SEX DRIVE! Yeah, this one is important and you need to get your hormone levels back to base line
