I'm honestly so excited I don't even know how to caption this. I DONT LIFT and I've always hated that I couldn't put together the basic functions for weight lifting.  Thank you so much @fitmama_ash for walking me through my first BB Squat.

Only about 4 weeks ago this exercise was on my "can't do" list. I was convinced I didn't have the flexibility to achieve it. But thanks to a Power Lifting workshop a few weeks ago that all changed. On my first time I lifted 40kgs. This pic has me doing 70kgs. Thanks to @_adam.jones_ for my new found confidence & @meiszies15 for helping me.

Last time I posted #BBSquats was on June 8 and I was putting barely any weight on it. I had 60lbs total because I wasn't completely comfortable with squatting. Now I have a new #PR total of 95lbs and I'm honestly proud of myself. It's not the highest compared to others but what I learned from someone is you're not going to get anywhere if you keep comparing yourself to others. That's only going to bring you down. You should only compare who you were before to who you've become. So I was able to push up 35lbs more than who I was before and I am so happy. .

THE KEYS..
1. Rest bar on traps
2. Chest out, scapula squeezed towards each other.
3. Commence downphase by breaking at the hips and stick your butt back
4. Down (eccentric phase) slow with control
5. Depth - whatever you can manage with good form, this will vary greatly amongst people 
6. Push feet hard into floor and drive up through the movement. 
These are just summary points. If you want to squat, and squat well, consult with a well qualified, experienced exercise professional.

Really focusing on keeping my core tight during every exercise I do now. 
It's especially important to 'brace' your core when doing squats. Bracing ensures you keep enough tension through your core to stop it folding under the weight. This doesn't just mean squeezing your abs, your core comprises of so many muscles - your rectus abdominus, internal and external obliques, Transverse abdominus, spinal erectors and even your pelvic floor & diaphragm. 
Draw your belly button towards your spine and brace as if someone was about to punch you in the stomach 👊🏼 Keep it tight the entire time you are holding a weight, this will help protect your back.
