#inktober Day 16. The Return of Godzilla 1984. It's a remake/reboot/sequel of the original Gojira and it's awesome. Godzilla is a force of nature, the model cities have skyscrapers and wires and even a teeny billboard for Ghostbusters. The real threats may be bureaucracy and geopolitcs. Japan wants to deal with Godzilla in a risky, but ultimately life saving way, but geopolitically, the Russians and Americans want to nuke it and contain it ASAP. The tensions are high, being the cold war. It raises a lot of ethical questions about dealing with Godzilla and the risks involved. Godzilla is both a force of nature that can't be controlled, and a wild animal with no understanding of the damage it's causing. Is Godzilla a side effect of our technology or a grim reminder of the limits of our control? What will ultimately cause more destruction, Godzilla or us?
