Hydration... is it really that important?? ⬇⬇⬇ ⠀
Drinking enough water is by far the hardest about gym for me. I just do not drink enough water throughout the day so I thought I would tell you guys why I am messing up!!
The body is two thirds water, but being dehydrated can limit effectiveness in the gym, whether you are doing cardio or resistance training. This will impact the quality of your workout as it will affect your workout volume and your results.
You should stay hydrated throughout the day to increase your energy levels and feel stronger when you lift 💪
What am I doing to drink more? I have a glass of water first thing I the morning, and I am consciously trying to drink water every 3-4 hours. This means I'm drinking over 2 litres a day (not including the water I drink in the gym)
Remember... it doesn't just have to be pure water that you drink. You can drink juices, protein shakes, coffee, coke etc. Even the food you eat has water in it!! I personally don't think caffeine has enough of a diuretic effect to force you to drink more water however I would avoid too much if you are supplementing with creatine. ⠀
Some studies suggest that body thirst is a good enough indicator of hydration. Respond to this as water requirements can be easily influenced by salt intake, heat, humidity, genetics and the level of activity you endure throughout the day!
