Look who we brought home tonight!!! I'd say their first introduction went well wouldn't you?... considering the shelter gave her a C on her temp test and said she was very fearful and they didn't think she would be ok with other dogs even though she would wag her tail when dogs walked by.. she also seems fearful with food.. she is so afraid a human is going to take it from her yet she trusts the other dogs 100%... if you saw the videos of her at the shelter you would have no idea it was the same dog. It's like night and day. She immediately changed when we got in the truck to bring her home. There are still things we need to work on; she doesn't know ANY commands and doesn't know how to walk on leash. She is still a little nervous about coming up to us but when Jasmine and Seelo run over to us she feels much safer and follows them.
For those who don't know her story...
She was brought into Carson animal shelter by animals control officer who responded to an abandoned dog in an apartment. The owners moved out and left her there. She was brought to the shelter on the 31st. Carson is a HIGH KILL shelter in LA and no one had shown any interest in her and she was running out of time. Luckily I came across a video of her cowering in the corner of her kennel and I went down there to see her the next day. ( 2 hour drive) This was about 2 weeks ago. I was told she was available but required a temperament test before she could be adopted. However, they wouldn't even put her in the temperament test because she was being treated for ringworm ( which can take a while to treat) once she was fully treated THEN they would put her on the list for the temp test which could take weeks.
So we showed up today to see how things were going and her ringworm hasn't cleared up yet. I was able to get them to do her temp test on the spot and they allowed me to take her ( with ringworm) given my background it the animal field; I told them I would take over her treatment.
