#bisbald Over the past 4 years, I have been visiting #Berlin once a year. It's not planned but, somehow, it happens... I am impressed at the rate that this city is transforming itself from a national capital into a world metropolis, embracing people of all walks of life, races, origins while, at the same time, it preserves its own unique character by putting forward its landmarks, its history and the thousands of things and corners across it that bear witness to its 'germanity', positive and negative ones.
To me, Berlin is the epitome of awareness about the diversity and complexity of today's world, where nothing is simple but also everything deserves our respect as long as it pays respect to others itself.
I am no expert but I feel that there is a very particular social experiment underway in Berlin, the outcome of which will point the way to the societies and local communities of tomorrow, which I believe will be much more important than states but, at the same time, much more open and tolerant than national states, as we currently know them.
The success of this experiment is, of course, far from guaranteed; it will take a lot of effort, social re-education, patience and time. But it is very well worth trying!
PS: the only thing about Berlin I can hardly come to terms with is its huge distances from place to place... This thing crashes me every single time!
