Melon🍉 + 🌰Coconut #calories
VOLUME: 70 calories each
I was 🙊 eating some yummy fruit tonight and thought this would be cool visual! 📸 Looking at the nutritional information on these fruit, I realised there was a huge difference in calories..
Volume: If you are dieting or cutting you may be having less calories than usual. If you have hunger issues, you may want to consider high volume foods. One example of this is melon. You could do this with many food groups, so say White Fish rather than Salmon or in the Fruit food group, Melon rather than Mango (or coconut!).
These volume switches totally depend on your goals though :)
Everybody's thinking it, so I'll just say it. "Why would you want to get into farming?" Valid question! It definitely has it's stigma when it comes to sustainability in modern-day America.
But Joshua and I aren't doing it for the pay check, and we're not doing it as a hobby. It's our lifestyle. Why? Because the more we learn about mass produced food, particularly meat, the more we want to gag. 80% of this nation's beef comes from 4 producers. A package of ground beef can contain parts of over a thousand cows. Large scale meat producers can have 50% of the samples test positive for harmful salmonella and still get the green light from the USDA. Above 50% is considered "unsafe" but processes can still continue until a public illness is reported (oftentimes death). The average American ingests more drugs through animal products than they take via pills or injections. Remember Mad Cow disesase? That's because the USDA actually encouraged farmers to feed dead chickens and cows to cows as cheaper ways to feed them. Standard commerical operations allot 1/2 a sq. ft. for a chicken for it's *entire life*. Beaks are routinely cut to prevent cannibalism. TIME magazine even reports that 10% of the weight of supermarket chicken is "fecal soup". 3,000 people die every year from foodborne illnesses. The culprits? Large-scale processing facilities, transportation and shipping cross-country, and mutated or resistant strains of pathogens due to routine medication. Any food production system where animals will resort to cannibalism and use confinement houses that stink up neighborhoods is unacceptable.
Why do we want to farm? We don't believe huge government outfits are concerned in the least about the health of our food, but we do trust ourselves to humanely (and affectionately :) ) raise our animals in the healthiest way possible and it's become a passion of ours to provide for those who want the same alternative.

Healthy Swap idea below..
It may be helpful to consider the serving sizes of your
Protein + Vegetables + Carbohydrates
Left: double the noodles
Right: double the veggies
This picture aims to show that you don't have to exclude foods from your diet that you love (like pasta😍🙊). Instead, you could, for example half the quantity of pasta and then double the vegetables.
This type of swap, (so you are having less calorie dense food) means that you are actually eating MORE food and having LESS calories; 200 less calories shown here.
Sounds good to me! What do you think?

🛒TRADER JOE EDITION🛒
#BOUGIEONABUDGET !💸💸 Introducing my new series: How to live well WITHOUT dropping all that money.💳😱 Let's be real. Being healthy and active can get EXPENSIVE. All that kombucha? $$. All that activewear? $$$$. All that peanut butter I eat in a week? $$$$$$. Hehe jk, that last one is pretty affordable.😂 But in all seriousness, health and wellness is SO important, but also really freaking unattainable for many!😓 SO this new series is where I'm going to be sharing tips I've learned over the past couple of years on how to live well without the buckos. (aka when I worked at a nonprofit in Washington DC and could afford nothing).😂😉 FIRST STOP: @TRADERJOES. Because let's be real, TJ is an amazing place for affordable, specialty foods. 💥
HOWEVER, not everything you get at TJ's is automatically better or cheaper than other stores. For example, their granolas/cereals, packaged foods, etc can all be pricey. However, these things in the picture are my Trader Joe's staples... meaning I get them almost every week exclusively at TJ because I know that they are cheaper there than anywhere else I've seen (though this varies by region).✔✔ So what about you?? What's YOUR favorite Trader Joe's item and WHY??? 😍👇
