This wrap is a fossilized ammonite wrapped in gold, sterling silver, brass, and copper. I wanted to mix all the metals together because ammonites are a geometric phenomenon and geologically/mathematically/historically relevant!
Ammonites are an extinct group of marine mollusc animals that are closely related to modern day octopuses, squid, and cuddlefish.
The spiral that occurs in the shape of an ancient ammonite shell is identified as the Golden Spiral. This spiral can be represented by the Fibonacci sequence.
The Fibonacci Sequence is a sequence of numbers that is based off the rule that any number in the sequence is equal to the sum of the two numbers preceding it. The Fibonacci Sequence is also the basis of the Golden Spiral, and it is a very prominent pattern in nature all around us, including this lovely fossilized ammonite.
(Some numbers from the sequence are: 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89, 144, 233, 377, 610, 987, 1597, 2584, 4181, 6765 and so on if you’re interested in the mathematics.. )
Ammonites are a reminder of how we are all connected by Nature's numbering system. This similar pattern we see in nature... It appears everywhere around us, from the leaf arrangement in plants, to the pattern of the florets of a flower like sunflowers, the bracts of a pinecone, or the scales of a pineapple. It is visually apparent in the growth of every living thing, including a single cell, a grain of wheat, a hive of bees, and every single one of us. Connection.

The ubiquitous nature of the Fibonacci Sequence appears yet again,
in the Partitioning of the Greater Circle into smaller and smaller units,
based on the natural integers like 1, 2, 3, 4 etc
and identifying the smaller or diminishing circle sub-sets
made from radius lengths of 1 and 2
have a surprising result,
that when we sum the radii of 1s and 2s, along the diameterical plane
their sum is always a Fibonacci Number
and grow in this natural progression

Who knows why things always seem to look better when they are arranged in threes. I always tell people it has to do with Fibonacci numbers. Fibonacci was the 12th century Italian mathematician who figured out that a certain sequence of numbers somehow mirrors patterns that happen naturally in nature. The numbers are 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89, 144 and on and on. You can see how the sequence is arrived at – the next number is the sum of the two preceding ones.
