I'd like you to meet Jim Park, likely the best bodybuilder of his time and chiefly responsible for many of the choreographed poses that bodybuilders of today employ. He was the father of Greg Park. Greg, while not a bodybuilder is an equally amazing man in his own right. Greg is a father figure to me and has taught me numerous things about nature, woodwork, gardening, hunting, swimming and archery. Everything he learned came from the man you see pictured here. I never got to meet Jim, but I love Greg dearly and am grateful for his presence in my existence on this side of eternity.
Jim was born in Brave, PA, and graduated from Waynesburg High School. He was a veteran of World War II where he served as an Aviation Electrician. He retired as a Millwright from Kaiser Aluminum. He was a Scout Leader for 40 years with the Kootaga Council of Boy Scouts of America and received the Silver Beaver Award in 1970. He was well known as a Body Builder and in competition, won the titles of Mr. America 1952, Mr. World 1953 and Mr. Universe 1954. Jim was a mans man and would likely put us all to shame if he were here today. A little known fact is that his physique is the one you see on the Jolly Green Giant packaging. Amazing man.
