So I've been asked a lot as to why I'm obsessed with Harley Quinn. Here's why: in my life I've been put through hell, I was abused emotionally, physically, and sexually throughout my childhood, I've had multiple abusers, and needless to say this took a toll on my mental health. In middle School the symptoms of my mental disorders we're at an all time high, I was diagnosed with depression, PTSD, anxiety and a few others I'm not completely comfortable with sharing on here. When I attempted suicide and failed I realized I need to make a change. I opened up more to my counselors, and finding new ways to cope, that's when I began reading comics, when I found Harley i related a lot to her. In the comics she's mostly known for her abusive boyfriend the joker. But if you keep reading she eventually has enough and leaves him. She realizes it was never her fault. She's also known for being "crazy" and because of the fact she was a psychologist in the bast is not only ironic but it helps her. She takes her mental disorders and doesn't let it define her instead taking them and putting them to use in creative ways, and she becomes a hero. This is why I love her she helped me realize it was never my fault, and that I'm not just a victim, nor am I "crazy" or "insane" but that in my own special way I'm a hero too. #gay#abuse#harleyquinn#mentalawareness#mentalhealth#hero#me
