🇺🇸 THE SEVEN DIMENSIONS OF THROUGHNESS ⠀⠀

In this article I will attempt to break down the structures of throughness for better for overall better understanding.⠀
I want you to think about your horse as a cube, like a toy block. Every cube has six sides. When holding it in your palm you can see that it has a top and a bottom, a left and a right, and a front and a back from your perspective. A horse is the same way. If we lop off his or her legs and head then we are left with the barrel of our unlucky horse and can treat it the same way as our toy block.
Dimension one – THE TOP⠀
We consider the ‘top’ of the horse the back musculature. In a larger sense this extends into the neck, forming the entire topline, but for this discussion we will be speaking only of the back and wither. For a through horse the back must be pulled upward, toward the sky. The muscles must be toned yet swinging, but most importantly engaged in the first place.⠀
It’s been snowing allllll day y’all 😫 we’ve got like 7+ inches as of now!
I tried to catch Estrella, she went down in the pasture then back up to the barn, so I had to trek all the way back up a hill in snow up to my knees, then when I caught her and was taking her to the barn, my dad told me it was almost time to go and that I needed to put her up 🤦🏽♀️ so I didn’t do anything with her today lol
QOTD: Is it snowing where you live?
AOTD: Yeahhhh lol
Consigned to our sale this Friday. Paragould AR.
6 good horses, used around the farm. They all have a great handle, sound and sane.
Another gentleman called in and consigned 8 geldings. All off the ranch. They are broke and ride around like one should.
I will post more pictures and information as I get it. #horses#horsesale#geldings#ranchhorses#paragouldarkansas
Margo earlier today 😍
I rode Margo yet again today haha. I even jumped her over some cross rails! She knocked them over a lot, but we’re learning 😁
I also got her to trot today! She’s gotten really good at it, I’m super proud of her. Margo went really good in the full cheek I put on her today (in picture) but I think we’re gonna stick to the half cheek, as she went great in that one :)
QOTD: How many shows have you been to?
AOTD: I’ve been to like 4 shows but I’ve only competed in one 😂 it doesn’t interest me too much
Here’s a picture of Diamond to break up all the gray 😂
This was back when my cousin was here and we would go riding every day 😂 and by riding I mean I would ride and she would walk because she got a Fitbit for Christmas and wanted to get more steps than me 😂
I didn’t go ride today, I didn’t get home from spending the night at my grandparents until like 3 o’clock lol. I should go ride tomorrow, it’ll be much warmer too so I’ll try to fit in a little ride on Estrella!
QOTD: Should I keep doing these lol
So this is an edit that I made for the horses that have taught me the most and that I love dearly. Excuse terrible eq. Some of these videos and pictures are over 4 years old which you can probably tell which ones because my eq has gotten so much better lol. This video is missing a horse that means so much to me but I don’t have any videos or pictures of him:( my editing is not the best so excuse that haha!❤️😂 #ponies#horses#ottb#warmblood#lovehorses#horsesofinstagram#mares#geldings
Had an unexpectedly good ride today. Unfortunately the big arena was unavailable because the school horses were turned out so we rode in the small space near the jumps.
Buster was a bit lazy to start but then he was all good. 😁
Next time we go riding if it doesn't rain we'll be jumping which is exciting!!! 😵😱😜
Going to try make a riding video to post a bit later. Also finally Leo's mane is entirely done, fixed up some strays and his bridle path. 😊👌
Different perspective :)
Sorry I’m posting so late, I forgot to 😅😂 I didn’t go to the barn today so Margo got the day off, hopefully I can ride her Tuesday though!
I also went to our old tack room to put up some headstalls we don’t use, and I found a full cheek snaffle! Which is great, as I was about to buy one for $20 😂 I found it with wires wrapped around it (feel bad for the horse it was used on tbh) and washed it after getting the wires off, and plan to use it on Margo next time I ride her!
QOTD: (Ik I’ve asked this before lol) What bit do you use on your horse?
AOTD: Estrella has an Indian hackamore, Diamond has a Myler bit, and I haven’t settled on one for Margo 🙈
Biomechanics plus Aerial Yoga
Join us for the 2nd Rider Biomechanics clinic with Kelly Sigler Patterson this time including Aerial Yoga!
This clinic starts with an Intro to Biomechanics and will build throughout the weekend taught by Colleen Kelly's protégé, Kelly
Sigler Patterson, President and Lead Instructor of the International Society of Rider Biomechanics and former 3 Star Licensed Parelli Professional.
The course covers how to get your seat and posture in alignment with your horse despite any physical issues that you might have. You will also learn to “test”your position to make sure that you are in the correct position.
The development of a good seat and posture will help you be the best partner for you horse while riding. Off the ground, you will learn how to see straightness in the horse. We will go through a series of exercises to cause your horse to go into a better balanced and straight frame online as well as in the saddle.
You will also learn the proper progression to develop your horse
biomechanically. This will give you the peace of mind that your horse is being developed correctly for more advance lateral work without injury.
An exciting addition to the last clinic is Aerial Yoga. This involves using a purpose built swing to support your weight allowing for more dynamic movements. It is very relaxing and safe and also great fun! Come and try it, we are hoping to make this a regular course on it's own so come along if you are interested!
Bring your own horse or hire one of ours for the weekend, contact us for more details of the event and booking information.
