7 years ago today - I laid with my laptop on our couch with my right leg elevated. I was laid up for 2 weeks post-surgery after FINALLY getting my leg taken care of after a nasty fall down a spiral staircase at work two years earlier. I thought I had pics from surgery day, but all I was able to find were a bunch from recently after the fall. There was a fascial defect that was repaired and a giant mass removed. I'd been in pain for years - when walking, when doing nothing at all. I was so glad to finally, hopefully, have some relief if all went well with recovery. But when you can't do anything, you want to do EVERYTHING. So as I laid there healing, thanks to inspiration from @theburiedlife, I started working on my bucket list. "What do you want to do before you die?" It was on that day that I started my list of things that I'd now, hopefully, get the chance to do, pain-free. It was that day that I decided I'd run a 5k - item #5 crossed off less than 3 months later in Hartford on 3/20/11 ✔, and that I'd meet the Goo Goo Dolls - item #11 crossed off on 7/20/11✔. This past year I crossed off #5 - have a passport ✔, and for the 3rd time I crossed off #9 - complete a half marathon.✔ I have so much more to see and do - be on a game show, cross the Sydney Harbour Bridge, go to a concert at Red Rocks, learn to play a song on the guitar, and a whole bunch more. But it all started with the decision to go for it. You can if you think you can. ANYTHING is possible. Everything happens for a reason - you may not know it at the time. I fought for so long with Workers Comp, took more Motrin for the pain than I care to remember, went to SO MANY Dr and Specialist and therapy appointments. In the end, I'm a way better person now than I was then. And I know that everything I need is within me. It's within you too. Go for it. 💪💖 #fbf#flashbackfriday#throwback#theburiedlife#whatdoyouwanttodobeforeyoudie#bucketlist#goforit#injury#surgery#recovery#running#runner#5k#halfmarathon#canadaarmyrun#races#fitness#travel#music#GooGooDolls#youcanifyouthinkyoucan#inspiration#motivation#dedication
For me, fitness is a metaphor for life. When facing really tough situations, it’s tempting to want to curl up in a ball and give up on pursuing our goals and dreams. But that is precisely when we need to push past the pain of self-doubt, fear and uncertainty. I’m so close, you’re so close, WE’RE so close to realizing our dreams! 🏆 🎆 Don’t stop now! Don’t sell yourself short - you can do it! 🌟🙌🏼🙌🏼 #goals#goforit#dreamcatcher
For as long as I can remember, I’ve always been “the people pleaser” type. Doing everything I thought others wanted me to do, being who I thought they wanted me to be or saying what I thought they wanted to hear. These aren’t necessarily bad in some circumstances but when they are stopping you from expressing your true self, that’s when it becomes not so good.
Being authentically yourself does not come easily to everyone. In my opinion, the things you go through in life, good & bad, are what pushes you towards who you truly are and where you want to be. Everything happens for a reason. The people you meet, the ones you lose, your delayed flights, the job you didn’t get or the one you did get...Everything in life has a purpose but it’s not your job to know what that purpose is. You have to trust and have faith that the decisions you make as long as they are true to you, will keep you on the right path of this beautiful, crazy life of yours.
I often wonder why some hiring managers bother going through this rigid interview process and ask these repeatedly used questions over and over again. They ought to cut the nonsense and have some common sense as to why exactly applicants are looking for a job. Do you agree? My daughter and her kookoo hair 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ Took my girls to park today after school. 5 days without Monat and what a tangled mess she weaves! But I have to admit, I did it on purpose without washing so she could be my hair model on why Monat is such an amazing shampoo and why it would be worth the investment. I used on her the Men's black shampoo + conditoner. Two washes left in for two minutes and that was it. And lemme tell you her hair was tangled! I decided not to brush her hair before showering cause it was that bad...lol. When using Monat it's recommended to brush before washing to maximize your results. And also make sure you wash out ALL the product. Leaving even a tiny amount inside will actually cause your hair to have negative Monat results, and we don't want that! I added less than a pea size amount of the blow out cream and blew dry her hair. Now her hair is all pretty pretty and soft and smooth. 😍😍 #MonatForTheWin
