"Though his name has faded from public memory, his presence is inescapable." Personally, for me this is one of the most terrible serial killers of all time. Albert Fish. A detailed story of the difficult hunt for him by the police and of the atrocious crimes he committed in the late 1920s. He did not kill as many as other notorious serial killers, but his modus operandi and the fact that he got away with it for so long is absolutely shocking. This book focuses on many of the cases including the New York kidnappings of Grace Bubb, Billy Gaffney and Francis Mcdonnell. A few times while reading this book, it literally gave me the chills and I needed to get an extra blanket. The fact that no one could link the missing children from over the years to one another and even though he admitted to his crimes once caught, no one can tell for sure how many innocent victims died viciously or were tortured at his hands. The acts that this human monster committed, doesn't come close to any fictional character I read about in horror books. And if it does, the author's got some serious issues just thinking it up in the first place.
Harold Schechter is my all time favorite true crime author. This man can write a story so well, the fear he brings out of you through his historical storytelling and the facts that are so detailed makes you feel like you are living in that era and reading the daily tabloids. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to gain a better understanding of humanity, because facing the lowest of humanity without looking away or shutting a book can make you more aware. If this could happen in the 1920s, what could possibly be out there today?
I. AM. SO. EXCITED. to enter this!! 💕 Hi @whimsifybox !! I'm Addi, from the USA, and would love to rep for you. I've been a fan of your box for some time now and love the thought that goes into it! "É um livro “pé no chão”, ele te mostra que toda a escolha tem uma consequência, que não basta amar se você não pode aceitar o outro como ele é e com toda a bagagem que ele carrega, não adianta mudar pelo outro, mas também é necessário mudar por si mesmo, junto a tudo isso também temos o apoio, a importância de se ter amigos verdadeiros e a família." Para começar bem a segunda.. ❤️ Um livro com um moto clube maravilhoso!

Cover Reveal: Bountiful (Truth North #4 ) by Sarina Bowen → http://bit.ly/2huzwFB - I love the gorgeous cover! Can't wait to read this! ♥ ⠀
Releases October 20, 2017⠀
About the book:⠀
No last names. No life stories. Those were the rules.⠀
Once upon a time a cocky, copper-haired tourist sauntered into Zara’s bar. And even though she knew better, Zara indulged in a cure for the small-town blues. It was supposed to be an uncomplicated fling—a few sizzling weeks before he went back to his life, and she moved on. ⠀
Until an accidental pregnancy changed her life. ⠀
Two years later, she’s made peace with the notion that Dave No-Last-Name will never be found. Until one summer day when he walks into her coffee shop, leveling her with the same hot smile that always renders her defenseless.⠀
Dave Beringer has never forgotten the intense month he spent with prickly Zara. Their nights together were the first true intimacy he’d ever experienced. But the discovery of his child is the shock of a lifetime, and his ugly past puts relationships and family out of reach.⠀
Or does it? Vermont’s countryside has a way of nurturing even tortured souls. The fields and the orchards—and hard won love—are Bountiful.⠀
Just a few of the new/old downloads on my kindle ☺️ and I'm getting a few more today. I got toooo many books to count. Actually, there's no such thing as too many books 🙃. Can't wait to read them all. The covers and synopsis' hooked me. Practicing patience and waiting for @theauthorlt's part 3 👀😉. Take your time though girl ☺️. What are y'all reading??
❝Reading was both a gift and a curse for me. Those books made me able to escape into a world I'd never experienced, but at the same time, they reminded me of all the things I'd been missing❞ - I love this quote from one of my favorite authors: Brittany C. Cherry. 🌻 These spines are so pretty and pastel and vibrant! I love it. I got the notebook from @redbubble in case anyone was wondering! What are you #currentlyreading ?
I read my first Agatha Christie back in high school and became enamored with her stories. I never quite realized just how popular she was, but love that so many people enjoy her as much as I do. So much, in fact, you just can't really put any of her books down until you've read it cover to cover in one sitting! Haha. Happy Monday friends, what are you reading this week? Agatha is next on my list! #theardentbiblioreads
The Killing of the Imam by Barney Desai and Cardiff Marney is a Red Kufi Books Recommended Read | #greatreads 📚
The Killing of the Imam is based on the death in detention of Imam Abdullah Haron, an anti-apartheid activist, in September 1969. It was first published in 1978 and immediately banned by the apartheid government.
The imam's death received scant coverage in the world press even though up to 30,000 mourners attended his funeral. His arrest and subsequent torture followed an all-too familiar pattern and one which was repeated with the death of Steve Biko. The Killing of the Imam is a horrifying account of the South African regime's methods of harassment, torture and political murder, as well as the story of one man's exceptional courage, faith and loyalty to the cause of freedom. Read more on our website. Link in bio.
Filmmaker Khalid Shamis, who is the imam's grandson, produced a feature-length documentary titled the Imam & I. The documentary on the life of the Imam received numerous awards.
"i would hold her hand forever if i could. but i can't. so i let go. i love her, and i have to let go." - sara farizan (if you could be mine)
whats a book that took you by surprise?
i'm listening to if you could be mine by sara farizan as an audiobook after having had it on my tbr for like forever, and i'm loving it so so much ❤ it took me by surprise bc i wasn't expecting to love it so much, especially since i'm not a fan of audiobooks, but sara farizan won over my heart in a matter of minutes! i'm nearly finished with it now and it breaks my heart a little cause i'm not ready to let go of these characters or this world. 😢
Do not fall in love with people like me.
I will take you to museums, and parks, and monuments, and kiss you in every beautiful place, so that you can never go back to them without tasting me like blood in your mouth.
I will destroy you in the most beautiful way possible. And when I leave you will finally understand, why storms are named after people.

"Rock Me is a layered, emotional and intense romance about love, redemption, and friendship." ` Amazon reviewer
I am not a victim.
At least that’s what I anted to believe. What I wanted the world to see. Five years of trying to find the girl I hid from the world.
I wouldn’t let the bullies win. I couldn’t.
What was I supposed to do when he walked into the building? He’d made my high school years a living hell.
But, he doesn’t recognize me.
How do I prove he didn’t break me? Simple, take him home for a one-night stand.
At least it sounded like a good idea at the time.

Here we are, on the final leg. Just got my last edits for my novel, Not Her Daughter, 🙌🏻and then we are off to the races!! Production begins. Galleys sent for quotes. The publicist trail. Creating buzz. What a crazy thing to witness the process, to create stories for people's entertainment. It's amazing to see the team, effort, and belief that goes into every book. I will never forget this foray into the world of publishing. I landed the jackpot with @hollowayliterary and @stmartinspress, and I couldn't be happier for all the excitement ahead...
