World Premiere : Wedding Guest Signing Poster for @_Alyssa_belle
This was such a fun piece to do! Alyssa showed me this idea that's been floating around Pinterest where instead of buying a guest book you get a guest poster for your wedding.
Now I'm like, who wants a dusty ol' guest book when you can just get you and your future hubby drawn. Frame it and hang it in your living room.
This is the best Harry Potter/ Starwars watercolor mash up I've seen in quite some time if I do say so myself.
Can you guys spot all of the references in the background?

Tonight's performance (and documenter of performance) at @visualbulk ARI in #Hobart . Performance art is so often framed by its documentation. People with video cameras and cameras recording every detail of the performance, blocking the audience to the point of alienation. Should the audience even be there? Tonight's performance documentation (refreshingly) didn't interfere with the audience or performer. It didn't feel like the performance was all for the sake of a camera lens. Anyway, that's my last rant. #artistruninitiative#ari#visualbulk#performanceart#art#contemporaryart . #guestposter : @stealthpooch
While working as a museum invigilator I drew hundreds of portraits of people looking at artworks. They're my stalker drawings. It made me incredibly attentive. It also gave me great insight into the way people interact with artworks. I mentioned previously the prejudice against people who take photos in museums, and one of the reasons why I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing is because there seems to be no correlation between the amount of time people spend with an artwork and whether they take photos or not. #museum#art#stalkerdrawings#invigilator#museumwork#drawing#museumvisitor#photography#sketch#contemporaryart#guestposter : @stealthpooch
On a residency in Paris last year, I spent a lot of time photographing people interacting with artworks. The Mona Lisa was a lot of fun. So many selfies! As someone who is vertically challenged, I can often only view things like concerts through other people's camera lenses. The Mona Lisa was kinda similar. I know a lot of people sneer at this culture of selfies in museums but I don't see it as negative per se (until people start snarling at others for getting in the way of solitary selfies). Any engagement with art is good. And if you're anything like me, photographs are great memory triggers. A decade ago, I'd buy postcards of my fave artworks which would then be squirrelled away never to be seen again. Now I take digital photographs, which allows me to capture the less popular (non-postcard) artworks. I tend to review my digital photographs more frequently, and sometimes even use them in lectures or other academic endeavours. Anyway, those are my thoughts on museum selfies. What do you think? #museum#selfie#monalisa#louvre#museumvisitor#paris#citeinternationaledesarts#art#painting#photography#tourist#guestposter : @stealthpooch
Stuffed to the seams (or vitrine joins). I'm kind of obsessed with the Pitt Rivers museum in Oxford. It deliberately fosters the archaic wunderkammer-like aesthetic with typed cards, busy displays and cabinets. They even have shrunken heads (both real and fake). I was a bit overwhelmed by the sheer number and diversity of weapons, many of them beautifully decorated. Humans are weird. #museum#pittriversmuseum#vitrine#museumdisplay#oxford#shrunkenhead#archive#guestposter : @stealthpooch
Each year Versailles commissions a high-profile artist to make work specifically for the palace and grounds. Here are a couple of Anish Kapoor's 2016 works: Sky Mirror and C-Curve. Contemporary art in heritage sites is so popular now and there are detractors of course - people who say it's inappropriate or distracting or invasive. One of Kapoor's works as even called pornographic because apparently it's funnel shape resembled a cunt (no offence taken by the fact the other end looked like a penis though) #Versailles#museum#heritage#visitor#france#anishkapoor#contemporaryart#art#guestposter : @stealthpooch
June, Versailles. I'm swept along in a river of tourists so packed that I can't even take out my camera. Even if I could, I'd probably be trampled if I stopped to take a picture. Fortunately there are a few 'eddies' behind bollards where I can escape the flow... pause... look up. I remembered this moment last night when I watched the first episode of 'Versailles' on SBS. I was disappointed that they didn't play up the Versailles kitsch. #Versailles#museum#gold#kitsch#watching#watched#tourist#france#museumvisitor#meta#palace#guestposter : @stealthpooch
