This mornings workout in 3 digit heat. VOLUME VOLUME VOLUME. Changing my squat form to a more narrow stance and things are moving quickly. Duffalo bar squat 165lbsx8 drop down to 155lbsx5x3+AMRAP. ⏭⏭⏭ Deficit Conventional, I feel like a giraffe with my long limbs. I was eyeballing a container of cookies 🍪 in the corner making sure my last one was still there 😤🤗 .
Ok yes I rush .. I gotta stop that ! Haha but thank god I finished these sets 185 lbs (4x6 ) followed by lots and lots of stretching ! I’m seriously obsessed with stretching ... like I know it’s a simple thing but I feel like the reason my lifts go well and I’m able to train pain free is seriously all due to stretching! Don’t over look stretching ...really focus on your weaknesses stretching can go along way if your consistent !

Top sets: squat 145x5 and 150x5
Today was surely one of my better powerlifting sessions. Worked up to 145 with 5 reps before jumping into 150. First set before this weight was cleaner. I lost core tightness while squatting the first two reps under 150 due to a slight mental block with the weight and I went a little forward. I immediately changed my mindset to make the last 3 reps better by keeping everything tight. Also did a bench PR of 85x5 as well. I'm overall satisfied with the way things are going and it only gets better from here. Big thanks to @pvstrengthsystems for always reminding me not to be a little bitch and own my sets.
Mkay so this was my 7th set, going for a triple of what I thought was 235 but I noticed on my 8th set that I was missing a 5 on the right side. I had felt that one side was heavier but I thought maybe my grip was just not good or something. So I did 8 sets lopsided. I was so upset. Not only did I risk my back on the same side of my previous injury but I used less weight than I thought. 😤
But at least I still put in work.

Wooo 225x5 🙌🏻 remember when I dropped the weight a few weeks back? Recently I started doing box squats to build drive and power. Box squats force you to push up with your heels and sit back. It’s great for clients who lean forward, lift their heels or drive their knees past their toes. It feels so different! It made me realize how little I used my feet as a driving force in my squats. •⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Lesson learned: don’t ever think you are too good to take a step back to fix your form or regress a movement! I love this lifestyle more everyday. The weights really humble you and put you in your place. I’ve grown so much as a person to just be more patient with everything!
People say "stop lifting" like they understand the power behind it. Like they have any idea what it feels like to use this as therapy. I swear it's more powerful than a drug. Not the cleanest squats I’ve ever experienced, but nevertheless for peak week I’ll take the PRs! 285lb 2 x 1. Drop sleeves at 235lbs... supposed to be higher, but haven’t quite trained up my sleeved raw squats yet. I believe if I had done a 12 wk programming instead of 8 wk with these guys I would have gotten even hella stronger. Today, I decided to work out at home before work but was super bummed when I realized I had no equipment with me (belt, wrist wraps, sleeves, etc or even appropriate weights) but then thought 💭 ah what the hell why do I care? For some reason there was a moment I thought I couldn’t do my sets of 8 reps of squats today without it all. It’s a weight I’d be doubling my reps with for a lifetime PR. Did I think it wasn’t me lifting the weights this whole time but the belt? 🤔 I immediately felt silly when I realized the weight & rep scheme for today intimidated me so much 😅 wth? So not only did I do my sets of 8 squats beltless but I also had 2 options due to lack of weights- squat 205 or 225? I went up, obvi 💁 (you can see the weights at the end) I believe the most reps I’d ever done with this weight was like 4 or 5 and not even to depth. So yeah, nothing impressive, but I felt pretty proud and thought I’d share since I haven’t posted in a hot minute. 👸

My first off season since I started powerlifting (only a year ago lol). But in a year I’ve done 5 meets and been running my body way too hard, so I’m done until collegiate nats in April. OFF SEASON TIPS ON GETTING STRONG ARE WELCOME
High bar double pause squats followed by some norm squats for sets of 10 at 225lb. I miss my heavy weight already.

My favorite thing about this angle is it's not helpful for anything. Regardless I did four sets of 8 with 165 high bar which is good because A) that's pretty heavy for me and B) I actually used my legs. I work at a chiro clinic and get adjusted up to three times a week and it's made all the difference in the world for all my lifts, but especially my squat. Turns out my hips are perpetually wherever they want to be and rarely where they're supposed to be. Legs bout to grow😎

I've never felt the need to defend anything I post on MY instagram until today. My instagram tells a little bit of my story. What this story means to me: I've grown as a person from the inside out and become comfortable in my own skin enough to show it off. I got a massage this morning and he worked out all the knots in my back, and everything felt SOOO much smoother. Hit a very easy 4x8 with 115, and I probably should have done 120.
