I never dreamed that club and gada swinging would become part of my cancer therapy in the way that it has, but I can’t tell you how good it is to be able to carry on swinging. It is such a powerful therapy for both mind and body, I love it. Each discipline has it’s own benefits.
Today I started with 60 sheno split pushups, then I swung my 10kg mace for 20 minutes this morning, followed by ten minutes of 7kg meels (both 4 count and 2 count alternating every minute) and finishing with 10 minutes of 2.5lb Indian Clubs.
The Gada weaves protective double circles around me.
The Persian Meels rhythmically calm my mind and open my shoulders.
The Indian Clubs allow for free improvisation and recreation.
All three disciplines give me regulated deep breathing which has an amazing impact on my well being.

The clubs create such diverse and challenging drills such as this oppositional arm circle. Keep the core active and tight and let the oppositional pattern open up the middle back, pecs, and biceps. I love this drill. (Especially on a hot summers day)

I have been eyeing the Wooden Indian Clubs from @onnit to really focus in on my shoulder mobility... But, while totally worth it, the cost, versus the benefits I get from practicing my lathe skills and the satisfaction of making them myself far out weigh the instant gratification of buying them online.
I love Onnit as a business model and use their videos and articles constantly, but my shoestring backyard gym budget pretty much only allows me my monthly MCT oil.
If you can't buy it, make it!

Feeling very thankful and amazed with how quickly my body adjusted back to my normal after taking some time off. Weight and inches are starting to drop again and I couldn't be happier. 💖 Took the day off, so going to enjoy the rest of my slow morning before getting the girls and pup ready for the day. Husband and I hitting the gym later to film a bit and get in a workout. 👌
