The technological advancements the world is witnessing at present have significantly contributed to the changing character of war, Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development, said in her speech at the Ministry of Defence organised ‘The Leaders Conference: War in the 21st Century’ event, which opened in Abu Dhabi today. "Thanks to an in-depth strategic vision for the future, the United Arab Emirates has managed to deal in a sound and strategic way with all forms of challenges, and displayed consistent willingness to establish constructive relations with all countries of the world," said the minister.
She reiterated the UAE government’s keenness to "ensure the highest level of security and stability for its citizens and residents, a fact which makes us all proud of being part of a country that proves before the whole world every day its distinction and pioneering role across multiple domains." The minister underscored the importance of digital diplomacy in influencing individual opinions, affirming that the UAE has made great strides in this field and has secured very active channels of communications with the international community to strengthen its national branding. "The past period has witnessed the emergence of certain groups and entities that have wielded technologies to benefit their own agenda, thereby posing new forms of threats that we have not witnessed before."
The Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, has distributed school bags to students of two schools in Tarim Directorate in Hadramaut, as part of its efforts at the societal level and the Year of Giving Initiative launched by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Students of the two schools and their parents extended thanks and appreciated the humanitarian Emirati gesture and the continued efforts of the ERC team in Hadramaut to alleviate the burden on the Yemeni families in light of the dire living conditions the people are experiencing.
Speaking after the distribution of the aid, Abdul Aziz Al Jaberi Head of the ERC in Hadramaut, said that the assistance is part of the ERC's continuous humanitarian initiatives in the region.
He added that the UAE philanthropic organisation is implementing a series of projects in the educational field along with other programmes to prepare an educated generation which is able to build a new Yemen that is free of wars and crises.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the General Command of Ajman Police arrested an Asian maid, MK, within one and a half hours after she stole money and valuables from her employer’s home in the Emirate of Ajman.
The maid made away with money, gold jewels and an electronic device.
Major Ahmed Saeed Al Nuaimi, Deputy Director of the Criminal Investigation Department said that the police received information from AMK, a UAE national, who said that his servant opened the safe and stole Dhs27, 900, jewels, an iPad, and her passport and fled the scene.
A team rushed to the site to search and investigate.
The team received confirmed information that the maid was at Dubai International Airport as she was planning to leave the country.
The maid was arrested at the airport in coordination with the Dubai Police. She admitted to the crime. The case was transferred to the Public Prosecution.
The Director of the Department of Criminal Investigation praised the efficiency and experience of the police and their efforts to arrest the culprit, calling on the members of the public to be cautious with valuables, especially when maids and domestic workers are around.

The UAE has called on the international community to take into consideration the concerns of young people in implementing the urban agenda and to enhance their effective participation in creating sustainable cities and human settlements suitable for all.
In a statement delivered by the UAE youth representatives to the United Nations, Sarah Al Suwaidi and Omar Almutawa, during the UN General Assembly’s Second Committee deliberations on the UN Conference on Human Settlements, Habitat, they highlighted the important role played by the youth in development as agents of change, and that they have great potential to advocate their own issues as well as the issues of their communities.
Reflecting on the UAE experience as a country whose population increased 300 percent over the last 15 years, they affirmed that national policies placed youth at the centre of the nation’s development, including persons with disabilities.
