Infinity Box #6 Radiance: 2013 by Matt Elson. Mirrors, wood, screws, acrylic paint, electric candles, holiday lights, flowers. 20.5 x 29.5 x 49.5.
The most attractive feature of the LA Art Show to me was the Yayoi Kusama inspired Infinity Boxes by Matt Elson @the_infinity_boxes who was as engaging and charismatic as his artwork! "Radiance" here is for 2 people at a time and has been designed to facilitate photographic exploration. In this case, Matt himself photographed me panoramic style while I modeled and the results looked nothing I had anticipated! Each window has a distinctly different world view; from the hub looking outward and the wheels facing inward. Each offer their own unique perspective and insights.
Like Yayoi Kusama’s infinity rooms there is no way to accurately convey the full experience other than to have it. The Infinity Boxes are part of the Awakened Vision series artworks that aee physical, experimental and create a new perspective, and an active awareness, of the vision we normally assume. It's about play, fun, interaction, aliveness, and conscious awareness.
About the Infinity Boxes:
Artist Matt Elson presents a series of boxes that allow intimate groups of people to interact via elaborately constructed infinity mirrors set up inside.. Aesthetically they are objects that draw the viewer in from a distance with the box’s odd beauty and become progressively less comprehensible during interaction.
Typically two people will walk up, look in from each side, put their heads in the box, and then are surprised by the world that opens up inside. The works truly become active only when someone else is looking in the box from the other direction creating a social connection in a perceptually-created other world. Photo📷:@the_infinity_boxes
A guided walking tour was a great way to see and learn about the street art scene in Shoreditch, and it was an absolute highlight of our London trip. We saw an amazing amount and variety of street art in all styles which appealed to everyone in our group! After the tour was over we went back to explore more on our own and revisit some favorites! #winniethepooh#streetart#shoreditch#london
THE CUBE! ⬜️⬛️⬜️⬛️⬜️⬛️⬜️⬛️⬜️ MY FIRST EVER! ARTIST ZINE....Over 150 people took part in creating three cubes that travelled to 3 different destinations. STIRLING, LONDON AND HAMBURG. Strangers asked to draw turned into hundreds of story’s. I have had the pleasure of meeting so many people and created something I think is pretty RAD. This artist book is my own artistic response to what was created. Last year an awesome fellow artist gave me a book which changed my idea on what a final piece of artwork could be. This while realising my first ever collaboration happened when I was just 8 years old along with my mum. A woman who everyday surprises me with her dedication to just keep living while with M.S and continue on with her artistic adventure while painting now with her mouth. BAD ASS LADY!!!! I’ll stop blabbing for now- HOWEVER- this book will go on sale.....and please buy to enjoy or feel like you have to because the money will be going to a charity so that maybe in 50 plus years from now M.S doesn’t have to be so hard on its chosen ones and to honer Stephanie Tait who always looked for rainbows in the rain- A beautiful person who lost her life far too soon and to charity she felt strongly about MARY-MEALS ....if it wasn’t for the cube I wouldn’t have met the wonderful people who shared her story with me. MUCH LOVE. Mia 🖤 STAY TUNED FOR LINK............. also please like and share❤️. #conceptualart#collaberations#art#screenprinting#artistbook#artist#artwork#contemporaryart#interactiveart#stirling#london#hamburg#scotland#mcgregorartpod#artistszines#book#bookstagram#artbook#buymybook
