A friend once said to me that hiring a photographer is such a personal and intimate experience. She was absolutely right. ⠀
My couples invite me into their lives to document the most intimate day. I get to know their fathers as they tell me stories about the grooms when they were little. I hold grandmother's purses and joke with grandfathers as we take family photos. But, my favourite moment of all to be a part of is during family photos when the bride's mom is given permission to hug her baby girl. The tears that stream down her face are very telling of their relationship. I capture the heartfelt toasts, the witty jokes and of course the first dance. ⠀
All of these people and these moments make up their life. Which after today just become a memory. The details will fade and the timeline will become faint. And what these two will be left with will be the carefully crafted story of the most intimate day. As seen through the eyes of not just a photographer but someone who becomes a friend, a member of their family. .
First wedding of the year last week with the lovely Caroline & Tony.
True winter wedding with fur coats, Christmas trees still standing strong and what felt like -1 temperatures outside. Such a beautiful day with beautiful people.
