Video postcard from the city of white, drenched in Atlantic sunlight, Lisbon •
I muted my awkward "hey" I sent to a few faves. I never take photos of places--and am pretty bad at getting myself into any photos, so this was half for myself and half "hey mom!"-ery. •
Also, heads up: if you're reading this, you're worthy of love and belonging. •
I write that because over and over again, I come across wonderful people who possess that certain fear, that particular wound that seems to run through them---at small moments or like a constant, sagging load. •
This troubles me. I see their light, their richness, their high cheekbones, ability to improvise piano playing, and their faith in their loved ones.
And too often, they fail to see how loved they are.
Not necessarily by a significant other, or even by family or friends; they are so loved by merely existing, by being born they are loved. •
You are loved. •
The love that loves you abides around you, like the unseen atoms hugging the curve of your finger and surrounding the lump of muscle in your chest; it simply exists around you and through you and for you. •
Don't you get it already? •
You are SO loved •
Guilt is a sign you’ve broken your own values. No one can “make” you feel guilty. When it seems like someone has, you just have to check in with your deepest self: Do l approve of my choice or behavior? If so, let it go — and if that feels challenging, get to work on your co-dependency, don’t vilify the other person. But if not, that’s when an amends might be in order. When you lose your reputation with yourself, only you can restore it to yourself — through right action. ❤️

This beat was inspired by my walk in the city where I actually saw a monkey in the park😂
Maybe he was trying to support his family back home in the country so he sought after opportunity in the big city😮

lt’s that invitations time of year! And the holiday party situations are already starting to stack up... So today I want to talk about a radical idea. When it comes to social obligations, try just saying no! Leave your thoughts and questions below. ❤️ (Shot by @rwonderment)
It's always a humbling experience when God uses other people to teach you lessons about yourself. I found myself praying about a few people in frustration and God says, "Ahem. There's a log in your eye..." So, I'll admit, I have the tendency to get a little carried away in discussing topics that I'm passionate about. I can easily railroad others in conversation when I'm very excited or very frustrated especially. To be even more honest, I'm just "a talker" in general, which is how God made me and there's nothing wrong with my extroversion, but God is reminding me how important it is to listen.
[LISTENING DRIVES CONNECTION.]
We all want to be heard and understood and feel valued, but how often is that message not communicated because I'm only hearing or listening for a break to continue with my own thoughts. I believe this is why prayer often feels empty for folks. We come to God to vent, to beg, to negotiate, to receive... and then we check out completely missing the fact that God has thoughts of His own and maybe he'd like to share a couple of those with us.
In church, in prayer, at work, with friends, our kids, and our spouses... let's practice a little self-restraint and try to REALLY listen. You never know what important stuff you've been missing... #listen#listenup#relationships#dialogue#prayer#talkingtoomuch#balanceisgood#speckandlog#confessions#discipline#connection
