The air is starting to cool, the sun is warm. I walk outside each day and think, I should definitely be outside as much as I possibly can. Here is to an amazing day for you. Get outside and enjoy it while you can. ( I'm writing this as I'm staring out the library window - jealous of everyone outside 🌞)

Sometimes you learn to realize what’s really important and to never settle for less then what you expect out of life. sometimes you have to make the necessary changes you need to be able to succeed in life and keep the ball rolling. There is never room for failure but sometimes you gotta take a few steps back and look at the bigger picture so you can find a different path and get those steps back.

Here is another shot from the mystic island of #Yakushima from our 3rd day of #hiking across the island traverse. This was a shot processed from actually 4 handheld shots because I shot this with a 14mm lens into the drizzling rain and had to median out the blurry parts in Photoshop. With my rain cape thrown over me and my 25kg backpack I was to lazy to get out my tripod which is usually attached to my backpack and thus with me under the cape. By that point our gear was absolutely soaked anyway since the high humidity gets everywhere even without the rain drenching you.
The forest is absolutely magical but it's sometimes very stressful due to the difficult weather conditions. Luckily Philipp Lutz Photography and I had quite some luck the following days. Starting our track we were wishing for such lush conditions and rain, still when we got it we realized it really complicates shooting, sleeping, hiking just everything as we could've anticipated. I guess we were blinded by the possibilities of getting shots like these in the upper parts of the forests. This is about 1300m above sea level so we already had finished a substantial part of the altitude before reaching the highest mountain peaks that lie beyond the tree line. But more on that later. For now I am still looking to edit some more shots of the stunning trees that we encountered on our way up. So stay tuned.
I hope to have updated my homepage soon and will likely post more new images from Japan on there when I get the time.

At this very place a group of sailors were rescued by brave Icelandic men who rappelled down the tall icy cliffs in mid winter. The bravery, empathy and love for fellow humans is a great example of something the fits under the hashtag #stretchyourhorizons How do you stretch your horizons? @ozshotmag @canonaustralia
Rad time this weekend in Yosemite with some buddies. Wasn’t there for photos, but couldn’t help snapping a bunch anyways. It’s hard to geek out when your buddies don’t snap. Good times regardless and I already wanna go back.
