First, look at all these older leaves I pulled off from my Dracaena marginata and notice that each of these lines on the trunk represents a fallen leaf.
If you apply over-simplified diagnoses such as "yellowing leaves = overwatering", are you going to tell me that this plant has been overwatered for the past 4 years? And if it hadn't been overwatered, would this entire trunk be covered in lush green leaves all the way down? No, once you start accepting that plants must abort older leaves as they grow and understand your environmental conditions, you'll start to gain confidence in your plant care abilities.
📷 2) Now for the fascinating part: the spacing between the scars was farther apart in this lower section. By doing a (very) rough calculation of the average leaf drop rate, this widely spaced section was the top of the plant 3 years ago. Here's what I think happened - we moved into this office around that time and put the plant here in this bright window. In our old office, the plant was being used as a typical office plant in a sitting area far from any windows. Thus, during that time, the growing tip was stretching out for more light. So the trunk of the Dracaena can give you clues about its past conditions!
#inthestudio tonight and tried some warmer, more vibrant colors. Maybe it’s because it’s so cold here, maybe it’s because I’ve gotten frustrated/bored with my own grey washed palette, either way it will be interesting to see how I feel about this piece in the daylight.
Also I did a little live video about my process for archiving and cataloging my work. I rewatched some of it and then went a little crazy with all my ‘ums’ and ‘likes’ - filler words! 🤦🏼♀️ That what you get without a rehearsal or script eh? I’m gonna try and do a full record condensed to 5-7 mins and post it to my website. I think/hope it will be helpful to have a permanent reference and maybe a bit more easy to watch and learn! Hah! It’ll be in my stories till tomorrow morning. Have a good night friends! 👋🏼
I’m so pleased with how these aromatherapy lamps are turning out! These are perfect for wax melts, or diffusing essential oils. Plus the top dish is detachable for easy cleaning, and to allow the base to be used as a simple tea light lantern. #lanterns#aromatherapy#oildiffuser#waxmelt
Abhaya Mudra 'NO FEAR'
Excelente día a todos
So many incredible options @redwoodroots.family this weekend! 🙌🏻💚🙌🏻
Gaudí said that colour was the expression of life, which is why he decided to make its presence felt in the Sagrada Familia. The Passion facade the interplay of light and shadow produced by the setting sun heightens the sparse and severe character of the facade’s theme.
