The man in the middle did more for human rights than anyone has, especially this generation. One thing he always did...Respect his Flag, respect his National Anthem and, respect his country. Regardless of who was running it. No one is being oppressed like he was, NO ONE. Especially a bunch of privileged athletes who live and Prosper under that flag. I fully expect the bigots to remove me from their friends list. Good, I don't want anything to do with your hypocrisy. 🇺🇸 #mlkjr#respecttheflag#stopjuststop#weallbleedred#onerace#standandrespect#nfl#nba
Following on from the #takeaknee post, here's a bit more background to the 'Black Power' salutes by Tommi Smith and John Carlos at the 1968 Mexico Olympics (shown). The sprinters were protesting the treatment of African Americans by their own country and were joined on the podium by Australian Peter Norman, taking the silver medal. In solidarity with his fellow athletes and their struggle, like Smith and Carlos, Norman wore an Olympic Project for Human Rights badge. The OPHR was an American organization established in 1967 with an aim to protest against racial segregation in the United States and elsewhere (such as South Africa), and racism in sports in general. After the final, Carlos and Smith had told Norman what they were planning to do during the ceremony, and according to a journalist interviewing Carlos he said "We knew that what we were going to do was far greater than any athletic feat. He said, 'I'll stand with you'." Carlos said he expected to see fear in Norman's eyes. He didn't; "I saw love." On the way to the medal ceremony, Norman borrowed the OPHR badge from a member of the US Rowing Team, and suggested that Smith and Carlos share the black gloves used in their salute, after Carlos left his pair in the Olympic Village. This is the reason for Smith raising his right fist, while Carlos raised his left. When Norman died in 2006, Smith and Carlos carried Norman's coffin and gave eulogies at the service.
#EbonNews In our world of 'Equal rights and justice for all' The #NFl are united in illustrating freedom to believe and stand up for what is right. Throughout the beginning of #nfl games teams #takeaknee can this then suggest that whatever you believe, factually an injustice for one is an injustice for all. With all the things going on in the world right now, one thing for sure is that we need to come together for a greater good. Do you not think that this image here displays peace, affords change, that It is not a protest, not a discussion for whether you support or not, but a rising in saying we can enjoy sport, life; but do not turn a blind eye on the powers which are working but not an actual representation of us? Look what great respect Donald Trump has for our flag!!! #controversymonger#hypocrite#Kneel if you feel you must because our nation is free, and you have the right to freedom of expression. We are not blindly patriotic in America. We are intelligently patriotic. We are loyal to our nation while also questioning it and challenging it so it becomes better, and moves ever toward becoming a more perfect union. We are not forced to stand and salute to our flag like some fascist nation. The vast majority of us instead CHOOSE to stand. If you don't get that you do not understand the foundation of our great nation, and you do not deserve to lead it. #NFL
Also is Ted Cruz pulling out a gun???

It takes a special kind of group of useless worthless fucktards to allow Blake Bortles to pick them apart! The @ravens are an absolute disgrace to sport. This was the absolute worst offensive/defensive display in an NFL game of all time. #baltimore#ravens#nfl#wembley
Respect to this guy Alejandro Villanueva for taking a stand. He stood for his national anthem. The NFL (American football) players who kneel on one knee for their anthem are scum. They should be happy that they live in a great country and make a lot of money playing sport for a living. People at games want to watch sport, not see political reactions to a race war that CNN has been trying to spread. Nascar might benefit from patriotic people switching from NFL to Nascar. I think that regular football (world football) will grow in popularity in the USA. Villanueva has courage to have taken the side of his country over the side of group think. #Villanueva#AlejandroVillanueva#USA#sport#NFL#respect#thisisnotCNN
