My favorite bicep exercise 💪🏽 as of late.
👉 Do your front delts take over when performing various bicep curling movements?
👉 Do you find yourself using momentum to pull the weight up during curls?
High cable double bicep curls are a great movement to really isolate the bicep without recruiting additional momentum or other muscle groups.
These can also be performed kneeling and/or sitting on the ground by lowering the pulley; and by moving a few inches either forward or backwards 🔃 you can adjust the angle of tension to whatever works best for your body mechanics.
If you’re trying to build up the peak ⛰ of your guns 🔫, throw this into your training program!
This year I’m taking part in the @bodybuildingcom transformation challenge and some of you may be wondering “why?” I know that I’m still “fit” but here’s my reason why!
Back in 2009 I started my fitness journey and learned about nutrition, macro counting, and training with the help of the resources at @bodybuildingcom. I completely changed my life and my body! I even WON female transformation of the year for 2013! Then, competing entered my life. I thought this goal would lead me to an even healthier point. After all, everyone is so shredded, right?!?! WRONG!!! .
Over the years I stopped being active in my nutrition, turning it over to coaches, blindly following set plans. It always got me shredded but after the competition I felt lost unless I was still following a plan. I didn’t know how to feel fit unless I was restricting everything! I got so used to that crutch of someone telling me what to do and how much to eat. Every time I gain the weight back because I’m not used to being the one in charge. .
I finally decided after my last competition, (realizing after that I was only consuming 900 calories a day and performing 2.5 hrs of cardio/training) that enough was enough! I need and want more balance in my life. I need to get back to the basics, taking responsibility for my intake and food choices. To have the skills back that I once had. .
I’m not as overweight as I used to be but I am definitely heavier than several months ago 🤦🏻♀️. When the challenge came around again I knew that this was the thing that would get me started on the right path again. So, along with a new coach who puts the control in my hands (IIFYM) 💪and the basics I’m relearning from @bodybuildingcom, I’m ready to start over and to transform my lifestyle once again. .
There’s no greater feeling than knowing that you have the skills necessary to maintain a healthy lifestyle and it’s just like riding a bike...I’ll get back there again...and have 12 weeks to prove it!
“I honor my body as the pinnacle manifestation of my spirit, this I do for myself and all of humanity”. What does it mean to ‘honor’ your body?

**LONG RAMBLING POST WARNING**
Last night I was about 2 minutes away from heading to the ER 🙃. I was up from 1AM to 4AM experiencing pain very similar to that of appendicitis. At 2 I took pepto bismol and at 3 I woke up @jonathon.childress in tears and made him get up to take me to the hospital.
Luckily, he made me really consider if I actually thought what I had going on could be life threatening. He gave me aspirin and turned on the tv and let me lay down with my head on his lap and distract myself while the pain proceeded for another 30ish minutes. It finally went away and we both went back to bed at 4AM. Then, at 7:30 AM, I pulled myself out of bed, exhausted but pain free.
So with about 4 hours of sleep under my belt, I made myself 2 pieces of toast with grapefruit marmalade and cookie butter to celebrate being alive and I went on with today like nothing had happened. I also had 2 whole poptarts today after my workout.
So, to sum up today: I'm thankful for a wonderful husband, good food, a flexible diet and the gift of life.
Please enjoy the included pic of my toast and eggs with PORK bacon because turkey bacon is just sad, y'all.
This photo is from January 2016. #TBT I had taken a year off from competing and was about to get back into prep for my show in Sacramento taking place in March. I had already been on Herbalife Nutrition for about a year and change, taking a year off from prep didn’t do this girl too much harm 😛 I hear so many stories about competitors falling completely off track, “blowing up”, binging and the list goes on. Having to start competition prep like it’s the first show they have ever done 🤦🏻♀️ OR on the flip side keeping an extremely strict diet on their off season just to stay in shape. Healthy and Happy is a LIFESTYLE. #NPCBikini#Herbagirl

Change takes time and consistency. 🍑🍑I have days where I’m like eh... I look the same I’ve worked so hard but my body is stuck, and then like today I walk by the mirror and I’m like wait a minute... I have an ass now, something I clearly did not have exactly one year ago. So my advise? Keep going, don’t stop. Because hard work pays off in time. Anyways happy day love yours #poorlittleblondegirl
Left was last weekend right was a few days before my comp about 13 lbs difference...
So then I had abs but no booty now I’ve got my booty back but no abs?! Why can’t I have my cake and eat it too?! 😭 trying to put on as much muscle in this off season as I can so when it comes time to prep again hopefully I’ll have both! Challenge is I would like to stay about where I am or lower because I would like to make my prep time manageable and not too drastic 🤷🏼♀️
Progress report from my first fitness competition prep.💪🏽

Current physique with 9 1/2 weeks out🙃
My goal for the competition is to bring my absolute best and to not compare myself to the other competitors. 🙅 This prep has taught me so much and I have learned so much about myself. In my first couple weeks, our goal was to focus on gaining muscle and now I am in my cut while trying to stay in hypertrophy and increase my total volume. ⬆ My body is very adaptive so I did go through a small plateau where I didn't lose any fat and became very frustrated. Whenever I feel that I'm not where I should be, I remember to trust myself, trust my coach, and to trust the process. I need to trust the journey even when I don't understand it. 🤷 I am excited to really push myself the next 9 1/2 weeks to see my true potential and to continue to lean out!
Thank you for those of you who have supported me through my journey as I share my experiences with you ❤
one of my goals was to start 2018 in a better spot than i did in 2017.
i believe that goal was achieved. in addition to training 1-2 times a week with @cemcondition83 ill be executing a split designed by our @teamhexx coach and friend of mine IFBB bikini pro @chiarellitrainr. i’ve done my own for a while now so it was a big decision for me to “let go” of that control and put that in rachael’s highly capable hands 🙌🏼 2018 will be the best yet!
I am so honored to be able to share part of my journey in writing through Valley Sweat Life. I am not an expert in the field of competitive body building. One thing I do know is that I have fallen in love with it and have developed a continuously growing respect for it. If my Journey is able to inspire change and drive the “Dream. Believe. Achieve.” Attitude in one person, I have succeeded a thousand times. This is such a positive way to get the Fit Community together. Thank you Valley Sweat Life for allowing me to be a part of the beginning of a beautiful road that leads to never ending possibilities. Hope you all can take a moment to check it out! ❤️ #Repost @valleysweatlife with @get_repost

I feel like I have been so MIA when really it's just been two days without my phone 😂. All I need to say is my phone insurance absolutely sucks 👎🏻 my screen went black and they basically didn't do anything 😒.
Any-who, this is a glute finisher my coach showed me last week and I guarantee you'll feel the burn:
10 hip abductions
10 feet elevated glute bridges
5 second hold at the top
10 hip abductions (keep your glutes held at the top)
Repeat for 3 rounds 🍑
