I had a fun, interesting time volunteering at #Arisia#Scificon this past weekend. As First Aid, and in the Safe Space for People Of Color. I get it. Representation within identity politics matters, to say the least! Witnessing all the amazing costumes and human beings being free to be their weird, creative, cool selves; each of us seeking to understand, and to be understood.
All in all, a great learning opportunity, #peoplewatching and observing in a bizarre, fascinating natural habitat! Not to mention, the great dance parties at the end of each night! #Thankful for the experience.
This pharmacy across the road from my apartment is one of the best places to people watch ever. For a start, the whole set-up, a double story detached building is all pretty Hopper-esque which is quite romantic in itself, but watching some events from my balcony makes me realise the human race is all just a mixed up bundle of emotion. The drunk man who last night darted in and leaned over the counter to buy condoms while the guy he was taking home hid around the corner; the woman with something to hide who spent ten minutes miming her ailment to the cashier; the fact that the boss is almost certainly having an affair or uses prostitutes once his female colleague has locked up and gone home. What a privileged window into life. #hopper#sex#pharmacy#mexico#travel#voyeur#flanuese#peoplewatching
I’m sitting in the cafe at Barnes & Nobel. There’s a pretty little blonde girl sitting a few tables away. Her blonde hair is glossy and pulled back in a ponytail with the straggling bits shoved behind her ear. Her face is stunning - one day she’ll be quite a beauty. She’s sipping water from a Starbucks cup, totally engrossed in the book she’s holding, If You Give a Man a Cookie. .... Now her parents are standing and waiting for her. She doesn’t even notice as she keeps turning the pages. Her daddy finally shrugs at her mom, gently take the book from her, and heads to the register to buy it for her.
