The Art of Collaboration
Is it a crime to neglect days
that feel like spring when other
parts of the country are freezing
and getting lost in snow?
I do know I should be more grateful
than I am. Too much whining
too much feeling sorry
for myself, poor me. God!
I'm so sick of myself but I'm not
good with other people
either. Where to go for escape?
The trees rose up, ghostlike, in the dawn
the other morning, birch bark
spotted dark and light
like the hide of a piebald horse
or a wild turkey's tail feathers as it
roams Sierra Nevada woods
or a mottled kitten's soft side
rising in sleep with breath and purr
or a sweet mutt rescued from the pound
such texture and colors even
when the whole world
seems almost blanched of hue
in the winter half light.
Don't let the glint get lost
from your eyes
see the vibrance
get up for dawn or rainbows
just to bear witness.
Remember the great gift
of just saying hi and knowing
when to feel blessed.
>> Oh my, so many influences on this one. @kris.grover taking photos of ice sculptures in Maine; @attemptingzen who understands my hermit tendencies; @scarabboatgirl who loves horses; @careless_undertaker @fromthebreathofdaydreams and @faiza__k because of cats ; @dstudioarts and @e_a_s_ who have brave and beloved dogs; @mel_lockner for sunrise in Iceland; and @magnoliamica for rainbows and the gift of saying hi. ❤ And, really, to everyone who's so kind and helps me to feel blessed and connected as best I'm able.
