We shot more than 40 signs in Bakersfield one day last month, and this was my favorite. Wool Growers Restaurant has a great back story, having been founded in 1954 by Basque immigrants intent on serving the Old Town Kern area of town. It is still family-owned today, serving Basque fare and basking (sorry) in the glow of numerous culinary awards.
This was taken right next to the hotel. I liked the look of the streets in the area so I was trying some long exposures. Just as I started a 30 second shot, a scooter came into the frame and I thought for sure the shot was ruined. Turns out it was the only shot I ended up loving!
