Stop by Southwestern College Nov 18th from 6 - 9pm for the premier of my Experimental film "Following Self". Going alongside the showing will be new artwork by fellow Southwestern College students.
Description of Film: "Watching the sun rise from the back seat of a car. The humming of a street lamp. Light reflected from a chandelier, dancing on the wall. These meditative moments slowly emerged to the surface like a beautiful orange glow shining in from the afternoon light. My memories quickly flipped back and forth from childhood to adulthood. They cast an emotional trance over me that I could only describe as a deeply rooted, calm love of emptiness, a stillness of peace, and a sense of home. These were not conscious thoughts at the time but my eyes saw them and I had to explore it.
This often occurs when I’m drawn or attracted to an object, scene or person. It's a very strong feeling, which completely stops me in my tracks. Over the years I have learned to respect this experience when it occurs. It is as if the world is communicating with me and I can either walk away or respond to it. When I have ignored such moments, I feel as if I’ve missed something. So instead, I slow down and explore what I see. I might not understand it in the moment, but when I reflect, I feel something larger in me. "Following Self " is an experimental short film that captures an accumulation of these types of moments in my life between 2013 and 2015 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I let this film unfold over these years and tried to respect the process of letting myself communicate with these moments as they naturally occurred. From this I saw a journey of quiet moments of reflection, sadness, and love. I saw the beauty within the life and death cycles of the self and the interconnection of the past, present, and future. I saw myself breaking away from the paths that were not my own or no longer served me. I stepped out, trusted, and followed self to the unknowns of the journey. " 🙏

Taking advantage of the overcast day and gentle breeze outside. By setting these bowls outdoors, I can throw and then trim these pots within a couple of hours.☀️💨
These are super textural on the outside. I’m thinking they will be awesome for serving chips and salsa. ~that tortilla chip look. 🌶😋
