Just a little reminder to all of us:
I prefer saving many things to the cloud, but, of course, remember to back up your writing on a USB or some other type of external hard drive, apart from the laptop/computer. ✌️- AJ

@livgoldenlion ’s “My Life Directed By Nicolas Winding Refn” is a filmmaking documentary unlike anything I’ve ever seen before. Focusing instead on the private, behind-the-scenes life of one of my all-time favorite directors, @nwrefn - and modern time’s MOST ENIGMATIC, in my opinion - ..we’re invited to experience the arduous reality of helming a feature-length film, the daily hardships tied to such a daunting task, the unstable repercussions on work|family balance, and the ‘see-saw’ journey Refn undergoes to finish what he’s been working on for the past 3 years.
I just love the way in which a man, revered by millions and idolized within the arthouse film niche, is unintentionally stripped of all his ‘titles’ and reputation, and momentarily exposed down to a point wherein even the average person can relate..as a struggling filmmaker, as a father, as a husband - that alone is a testament to how everyone is simply human. We make mistakes, regrets - sometimes even questioning whether what we’re doing is worth it..or is still, in a way, our passion. Just because you lose your way doesn’t mean you’re lost forever.
There’s a scarcity of filmmaking documentaries that can truly explore what it’s like to bury yourself in production whilst maintaining a healthy relationship with loved ones. Everyday you’ve gotta be on top of your game because you’re responsible for guiding and directing a crew of talented artists toward achieving your vision…a group of like-minded people who are driven best by the director, the leader..the moment you exhibit signs of doubt, worry or hopelessness..just a slight..you are risking the motivation, drive and performance of the very people you surround yourself with, which could affect the result of your film —just some of the many responsibilities a film director has to maintain and master.
The lines between work-life and family are blurred - where things that happen on set affect the relationship at home, and vice versa <— this was what intrigued me most about this film. And Liv, Refn’s wife, documents it beautifully.
It’s a documentary every filmmaker MUST watch.
Walt Disney holds several all-time Oscar records. He has the most wins with 26 overall, 22 of which are in competitive categories. He also takes the category of most nominations with 59, and most nominations in a single year: 6 with 4 wins (another record). If that's not enough, he holds the first and second place records for consecutive winning years--1934-1940 (7) and 1951-1956 (60).
