Life's better when you don't get attached, no feelings, never believe when someone says they'll stay. But that's not possible, especially not for me. Why do I feel too much, and sometimes nothing at all? #notetoself#selfportrait#lightplay
So, I've been a little m.i.a from this account because I've been working on a couple of projects which I cannot share at the moment. But I will share everything else that I can. I made this image for a #cyanotype workshop last weekend, dedicated to #annaatkins 💙 I made 2 but this was the one that made the cut and going into the book. If you'd like to see my behind the scenes (from this and every other project) go check my personal account @ladypolaroid it's personal.
I've just finished the wonderful Just Kids by Patti Smith and that makes book number 69 of the year.
Just Kids is the wild and tender story of Smith's life, predominately her time in New York with Robert Mapplethorpe. It's a triumphant tribute to living your art, loving fiercely without regard for convention, and to the city of New York in all its dirty glamour in the sixties and seventies. This is not just a memoir, but a poetic tale of hope that ends with a bittersweet elegy. It perfectly captures what it is to be young and challenging the world with honesty but reads almost as a punk fairytale, somehow both clear and creative at once. A must-read for anyone who aspires to live fiercely and write truth, or even just admire that attitude.
