African dance requires full body, no inhibitions, no drama, no overthinking. Shed the bullshit and you’re left with purity. With my current shoulder injury, it sometimes hurts to get myself dressed or to put on a seatbelt. So I watch these old videos from African dance class! This is Sabar dance from Senegal. It’s not usually my jam but Sista Adama Jewel (aka Jeanette Jackson in LA) made it so fun. Turn up the volume! This dance is done to the unique music of the Sabar drums. #sabar#africandance#senegal#drumanddance#danceclass#dancestudio#workout#letgo

As an American, we don’t pay much attention to international “football,” but in Africa everyone follows the football clubs. One of the most famous footballers is Lionel Messi, from Spain. Due to my hair and beard, I resemble him and for many of the kids in Senegal, I am Messi. Kids have been swarming me wanting to touch me and shake my hand, thinking I’m their favorite football star. One boy begged me to sign his shirt. I told him my name is “Mark,” but he didn’t care and wanted me to sign his shirt as if I was Messi. I signed it with my own signature, and he was elated! So to many of the villages I’ve visited, Messi has been to Senegal 😂. #senegal#messi#ilovethisplace#celebrity
