All done! Another dress with POCKETS using New Look 6434! I also used a new trick I learned on YouTube for making gathers with your basic sewing machine and no gathering foot! It literally took less than a minute! I'll post the videos shortly to help someone else who might find it beneficial too! Now off to relax, polish my nails and watch a movie or two! #NewLook6434#SewingIsSexy#WardrobeBuilding#FallColors#Sewcialist
Cutting buttonholes. I usually get best results if I fold the buttonhole in half, cut a small slit in the middle (shown here), then finish clipping carefully into the ends. Sharp scissors are a must. #sewcialist#isewclothes
I can't go to Nashville without going to @craftsouth 🙃 This Nani Iro took my breath away. It's a slightly metallic linen - I couldn't manage to capture it in a photo. Also picked up some @quinceandco to complete the Rhinebeck Tribe's group hat 🐦 so much for stash busting 🤷🏼♀️
All set and ready to start bra-making! Sewing the Isabell bra from sewy.de which also means I could use a refresher course in german ... I've done a trial bra in some jersey and made a few pattern adjustments. Luckily I have enough fabric to cut new pieces if needed 😊. Wish me luck! #sewcialist#bramaking#isew#sewing
This is so so awesome!! I'm the @heruniverse designer of the day! Here's the official photo featuring @designbybrianna wearing the #spiritedaway inspired design I made. I also made my own outfit inspired by Haku in dragon form 🐲❤️ I hope you're not tired of seeing pictures from the #heruniversefashionshow yet 😉
I don't usually wear one pieces, or red (I worked for Target for a very long time, I'm over red.) But this fabric was so fun! It has a built in bra and ruching on the sides.
My number one fuzzy helper really liked it too.
Today's creative ventures. Was tidying the unruly stash yesterday and found all the fabric I had set aside for making cushions. I'm always so surprised how far fabric goes for cushions - I got 3 large and 4 small cushions out of: 2 fat quarters of sashiko style fabric from a Japanese stall at the Edinburgh knitting and stitching show, a square of calico with a stag from @mandorsfabric that I got in the run up to our wedding with its stag theme, then the tea print from melody miller and the silvery grey I used for backing for those that aren't completely self fabric I got as remnants from @eternalmaker on their @eternalmaker_destash account. Hurrah! So pleased. And look at that hand slip stitched seam?! Knew my surgical skills would come in handy eventually 😂😂
How to organize your 1 bazillion sewing projects: start a new one! This morning I thought I could need a new quilt for the couch and after I saw @feovogt's quilt top in my feed I just had to cut a few quarters from scrap. I'll need 252 of them 🙈 #sewcialist#sewersofinstagram#quiltsofinstagram#patchwork
