Happy Friday from me and my plant based off pancakes! I've been loving this 80/20 lifestyle of eating more vegan/vegetarian. Im loving my skin, my body, and everything! I will always and forever love my pulled pork BBQ and nachos but it isn't worth it when I feel this good without those foods! And I'm not restricting myself either. I took this extremely slow and have been trying to eat more plant based for the past month. I'm obviously still a college student and there's a hot chicken shack right down the road so occasionally I will eat some chicken and that's okay! I'm doing this more for the environment and the overall well being of my body. Just wanted to share that I've been on this change for a while and it's going well! They have played renowned Philadelphia venues and travel the country year round to perform at both Lindy and Blues exchanges and workshops. They’ve had the honor of sharing the stage with trombonist Wycliffe Gordon, pianist Gordon Webster, and bassist Michael Gamble. They love exploring the roots of jazz and finding creative ways to interpret forgotten songs. Last night, @eatplaycbus and I sampled the rebranded @branch614 in the @shortnorthartsdistrict and holy smokes, it’s amazing. Their new Chef is a @beardfoundation nominee and when you taste his food, it’s evident why. His version of shrimp and grits was unreal. Give them a try again, you won’t be disappointed. 🦐
So we had our rehearsal dinner tonite and I barely took time to get my food photos. At least I caught my main course, shrimp and grits. Comprised of (taken from the menu): Atlantic shrimp, proscuitto di Parma, carmelized onion, scallion, and a Calabrisi chili cream. The shrimp had just a little kick, along with the chili cream. Also, and this is going to sound ridiculous, but there was a bread basket that had a ridiculously warm and toasty roll-type bread. It was almost as if you took a pizza dough and made little rolls.
