"Voldemort: Origins of the Heir" from the year 2018
(53 minutes, "Harry Potter" fan film)
This movie depicts the story of Tom Riddle's rise to power as a dark wizard and main antagonist in the Harry Pottersaga. Several original characters are introduced in the film: not only the protagonist, but also the other Hogwarts houses' heirs, and several minor characters for the plot.
I'm a big "Harry Potter" fan and thus was very excited for this fan film from Italy. Only now I finally came around to watch it.
This movie is good.
The story is very interesting and is a part of the Harry Potter universe that hasn't been explored that much.
The acting was okay. Especially Tom Riddle aka Voldemort, played by Stefano Rossi, did a good job portraying this character and was able to be really scary some times.
A thing that bothered me was that in the flashbacks to Hogwarts the characters, age 11-18, were all portrayed by adults. Especially the Gryffindor Heir was supposed to be 11, but looked like 20. I know that a fan film hasn't got the same budget of a Hollywood production, but a few young actors would have been great.
The synchronisation wasn't perfect, but it didn't bother me much.
The special effects, on the other hand, were impressing and actually looked better than some effects in Hollywood...
Everyone interested can watch this fan film on YouTube!
All in all, I would recommend this film to fans of "Harry Potter" and people who like dark fantasy stories.
Movie Name: Voldemort Origins of the Heir “Incredible for a fan film, with though there is the sloppy script. Voldemort Origins of the Heir does put a light over the beginning of Dark Lord even though it looks amateurish.” SharpRatings: 5 - #Meh
It's nice to see something from the #WizardingWorld of #HarryPotter even though #VoldemortOriginsOfTheHeir is an unofficial fan film. The film is somewhere between the rise and beginning of #Voldemort and fall of #GellertGrindelwald , exact timing is not shown or told. Tom Riddle (#StefanoRossi ) at the brink of becoming the Dark Lord, and creating his infamous Horcruxes while one of his colleague, Grisha (#AuroraMoroni )retells her friendship with #TomRiddle . The film does take a good dig at the Dark Lord and his origin but I felt it was more of a showing light at the Heirs of the Houses of #Hogwarts , even though its done meagerly. The film empathizes on dialogs and boy… this movie has a lot of them. The dialogs are poor and cringe worth, they try too much and easily visible when you hear them. I wouldn’t call them clichéd but they were pretty common. It's easy to say screenplay and acting was not the best thing the fan film had to offer. So let's go to that, the thing it had best to offer, first off the Easter eggs and reference, if you are a fan of Harry Potter world then you would love some reference here and there in the conversations from #Grindelwald to #Dumbledore its full of it. The creators did take time and effort to do this nicely and not overdo it. The photography and special effects are good, considering this being a fan film. The movie does have wand fights and effects used are pretty impressive they are nothing like the original movies but they feel rather lovely. The film does a good concept and contains some great ideas. There was a lot of passion and hard-work behind the camera, and I will give credit there in an age of cynical, lazy cash-grabs. You can enjoy the fan film or not because it’s made for entertainment purpose, there are good-looking costumes and fine-looking camerawork to appreciate here, not to mention the dedication and hard work. -CONTINUED IN COMMENTS
