Mommy workout of the day: carrying this guy around the mall. Today we went shopping. My fitbit tells me I walked just under 4K. Buddy didn’t want to be in his stroller so my hubby pushed around his “bag holder” and I carried this 20lb weight in the Tula. He’s pooped. I’m pooped. My hips are done. I came home and running was not happening. Wk15d7: 5k with 4*100
Stride outs with walk backs. So to tell you the truth, I’m not even sure if it’s week 15 or 16. I’m debating just dropping the weekly count to fitness. I feel like my next stage is deciding on a new goal. I had wanted to run a xc race but my husband doesn’t think I’m ready yet. Now before people start getting all “how dare he!” He totally supports and recognizes the work I’ve done and the progress I’ve made. He works with athletes and has to be honest. Am i where the most competitive xc athletes are...no. Will I have a competitive meltdown if I don’t do well...yes. Yes I was a little bummed when he told me, but that alone was enough to make me want to find that next step. So here I am debating. Do I set my sights on another road race? Do I look for a low key xc race? Should I try to switch it up and try to train for an indoor track event (1000? 1500?). I just don’t know• It’s hard to continue to find new goals for yourself, but they’re important. They help direct you. And without a goal it can be easier to quit or fall off the wagon. I think that’s what happened to me over the past couple of weeks. My goal of racing a 5k was accomplished, but now what? Without the what it can be a lot easier to find a reason to skip a workout. Attendance goes down drastically so you can walk at a good pace and only taking our own “learning” stops so our little buddy can discover an animal. Yesterday I apologized to a stranger for taking up the sidewalk with my son’s ginormous chariot cougar2. It was early, she hadn’t had her coffee yet and I had basically forced her into the street as my girth was consuming the path from the coffee shop to her car. She stopped, smiled, and said “Don’t apologize, be impressed with yourself.” I smiled warmly and continued on my way home. Then I kept mulling her words over in my head...
So often as a Momma, I feel the need to apologize for pretty much everything. Perhaps society has placed this burden of perfectionist parenting on me, but I think I am more to blame. Strollers are big. Breastfeeding is natural. Kids are loud, and messy, and EMOTIONAL. But that’s how they are meant to be. 
Be impressed that you created life. That you brought into the world. That it is still alive, relatively health, and 87% of the time not an asshole. Be impressed that you have clothes on (clean or not) and that you have maintained your sanity even though you haven’t really slept since you first got pregnant. 
Be impressed with yourself Momma. 
You are able.

Where’s the beautiful sunshine gone? Hopefully the wind will be a little more mild today so we can take a little adventure on the trails. We love seeing the fall colours and smelling the crisp leaves. There is nothing better than hearing just the crunch of leaves under your feet, amongst the quiet calm. It’s awesome how taking a quick adventure on a trail can add so much calm, yet excitement to you me Day. • currently we’re struggling to get out. Kevin was sick for a couple days last week and I might have caught a tad of that. So that, combined with very windy and damp weather, a kinda a new mama who feels clueless if she’s dressing the babe in too much or too little, and just life....we just need to make time today and this weekend. It’s Fall y’all! Today we decided to whip up some Apple Pie Muffins, and they’re gluten free! Nothing says Fall to me like warm apple pie, so we made a healthier version to indulge in without the guilt! 
INGREDIENTS:
2 cups old-fashioned rolled oats (certified gluten-free)
1/8 cup ground almonds
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon clove
1/2 nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup applesauce
1 medium apple, grated (about 3/4 cup)
1 large egg 
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk (or milk of choice)

DIRECTIONS:
Preheat oven to 325°F. Spray a 12-cup muffin pan (or a 6 big muffin and a 12 mini-muffin) with non-stick cooking spray. 
Pulse oats and ground almond in food processor for 30 seconds. 
In a large bowl, stir together oats, almond, baking powder, seasonings and salt.

Add applesauce, grated apple, egg, vanilla extract, and milk.

Stir well to incorporate.

VERY IMPORTANT. Allow the mixture to set and thicken for about 3-5 minutes before spooning into your muffin pan.

Fill muffin cups almost completely full with batter. The muffins will not rise.

Bake for 30 minutes (12 minutes for mini muffins)- until the center of each oatmeal muffin is set. 
ALSO VERY IMPORTANT! Allow to cool for 10 minutes before serving. If you don’t allow these to cool before taking them out of the muffin pan, they will fall apart. I used a knife around the sides to make removal easier. 
After cooling, they will set well. Store in a covered container in the fridge for about a week or freeze for up to 3 months! Enjoy!!

6 miles @ 9:20 avg pace. Wasn't the best run, wasn't the worst. It's just SO hot....and it's October. But that's okay. I'm COMING BACK! I got out there and I did it. I'm feeling more and more like myself. AND L's hair bow stayed in the whole time which is a huge win in my book. 😂I didn't have to go back anywhere looking for it! .

I made these bars today. They are easy, healthy, delicious and satisfy your sweet tooth.

4 ingredient Chocolate Covered Coconut Bars * 1 cup coconut oil, melted
* 2 cups unsweetened shredded coconut
* 1/4 cup honey
* 12 ounces Enjoy Life dark chocolate chips or any chocolate of choice 
directions
1. Put the coconut oil, honey & shredded coconut in a large bowl and combine well.
2. Press the coconut mixture down into a parchment-lined 8×8 baking dish. Refrigerate for at least 10 minutes.
3. In a separate bowl microwave the chocolate chips for 60-90 seconds (or until completely melted), stirring midway. You could also heat on the stovetop if microwaves aren’t your thing 
4. Pour the chocolate over the coconut mixture and spread evenly.
5. Refrigerate for at least 30 more minutes.
6. Cut into squares and keep refrigerated.

Wk16D1: Trail Hiking with 20lbs of  added weight 🤣 we only did a couple trails today, about 5k of beauty. Today was suppose to be gross..rainy and windy...BUT it turned out to be beautiful and perfect for a hike. Hard to believe a year ago we would be running these trails. It’s a little harder nowadays. Because of all the roots taking the stroller is not an option, but we can carry our buddy. So Kev and I took turns carrying the little man. Trails are perfect for training. The surface is softer (minus the roots) than the paved roads, so better for the joints. As well the unevenness. And constant change of terrain makes it perfect for working the body because you need more balance and stability. (And the hills are inTENSE) As well. It’s just beautiful. Water. Without it we would not survive. For health and wellness it is extra necessary. Unfortunately, it can be a bit boring. 
Daily I drink 96-120 ounces of water depending on how much I am hands on- aka sweaty- along side my clients. Here is how I enjoy each drop:

1. First things first- 16 ounces of Earl Grey. A little caffeine to start the day, good morning!
2. Next I infuse 32 ounces with fruit to drink during my early morning sessions (the fruit is an extra treat at the end of the jar!) 3. Before my next session I like to add @vitalproteins #beautygreens, to a quick 8 ounces. This adds a pep to my box jumps and allows me to push through to second breakfast without crashing. 
4. Then I refill the bottle with 16 ounces of clean crisp delicious water for my next class or client session. 
5. Did you know that at least  20% of your hydration should come from your food? This afternoon orange is 87% H2O, I guess our soccer coaches knew their ish. 
6. Dinner is just straight aqua, 12 ounces, there are enough flavors going on- including more edible hydration! Bonus!
6. Wyoming is cold. Even in the summer. So often before bedtime a 16 ounce mug of @aveda #tea helps warm me up so I can calm down and settle into sleep. 
That’s 100 ounces. I do add an extra water bottle or bottles here or there if doing a lot of activity. Or extra Earl Grey when my little keeps me up all night and I just need a little pick me up 😴

Kev loved the exercises we just have to practise a little more before attempting these publicly again. The sumo squat and push up we almost had....but timing is key. I posted our terrible video of the crunches and glute lifts (probably our best one). The leg press probably would have gone so much better if I wore better tights as Kev could not stop laughing. At the end of the day we had a great time attempting these and hopefully with time we will get better. If you’re looking for something to do with a training partner, I highly recommend checking out these workouts. Wk15D6: ummm lets call today survival. No miles were run. The partner workout we planned, did not happen. Instead we tried to survive a VERY tired baby. We came to my in laws for Thanksgiving. As usual we planned to make the drive to the farm while our buddy was sleeping..well he didn’t sleep. He fought it all the way. Wk15D6: ummm lets call today survival. No miles were run. The partner workout we planned, did not happen. Instead we tried to survive a VERY tired baby. We came to my in laws for Thanksgiving. Wk15D5: brisk walk. It’s hard to believe I raced a week ago as I’m feeling so unresponsive today. I’m not sure if it’s just the heaviness of what’s going on, or if I’m not taking good care of myself but I’m feeling so heavy. My legs are like lifting bricks. My neck is kinda stiff and sore. I’m pretty sure I’m not getting sick. I’m hoping it’s just a little dehydration and my mood and that by next week I’ll be able to myself. • Coincidently @bobgearus asked for us to share where our #bobstroller has taken us for their #bob20 contest. Well my bob stroller has taken me back to myself and my body. After having my baby there was a period of time where I felt like I lost my body and self. I love my son and have complete respect for the miracle that my body made BUT the new you defiantly makes you feel different. On top of things looking differently, you also have this baby that’s essential attached to you. My Bob has allowed me to run again and be in the outdoors. I’m able to seize the day and use it. It’s brought me to racing and turning heads. It’s made me feel like a super hero of sorts because it’s allowed me to discover that I can reach my goals. We look forward to continuing to go places...together.
