Yesterday I went to the @westcoastcraft event, hung out with @hellolisalin & @the_bojon_gourmet and saw a ton of amazing ceramics and other gorgeous crafts. But I was overwhelmed by the sheer number of choices, and, as always the case for me, that meant I left empty handed.
Part of the reason I didn’t buy anything wasn’t that I didn’t WANT to buy stuff (there was some beautiful work there and I love supporting local and small companies) but I have so much stuff already and I’m in the process of making my own ceramics too. I just couldn’t justify it. ✋
So I said no to all the gorgeousness with a little bit of regret. But then I found this photo in my archives. It’s of an apple pie bar with an easy caramel sauce (you make the caramel in the microwave!). I remember shooting the photo in my bedroom, as I chased the winter light as the sun set. And I forgot I owned this plate, which I absolutely adore. It remind me not only of how great this recipe is (the crust also doubles as the crumb topping, making this a great holiday dessert for a crowd) but also that if I can’t remember ALL the plates and props I already own, I probably don’t need to buy more of them.
So maybe next year I’ll buy more stuff. But for now, I’m holding off on it. My one bedroom apartment is maxed out as it is and I’ll be bringing more plates and ceramics home from the studio after my glaze fire in a couple of weeks. Maybe I’ll even give some of it away. We’ll see. I’m trying this while non-materialistic experiment for just a little bit. Let’s see if it takes. ✋

A 3-ingredient, 10-minute, refined sugar-free cranberry sauce for your parfaits, oats, toast or turkey 🦃 because it’s almost Thanksgiving!!!! 🙌🏻 You can celebrate in healthful style knowing you’re feeding your family an awesome source of vitamin C and antioxidants without all the additives and sugar in the canned stuff 😊
❤️2 cups fresh cranberries
🍁3Tbs real maple syrup
🍊2Tbs orange juice and/or some zest (optional)
🍴Simmer cranberries, water and maple covered on medium heat for 6-7 minutes, stir occasionally. Remove lid and cook to let thicken for 2-3 minutes. Let cool and blend until smooth - immersion blender is perfection here. For a more gelatinous texture, add 2 tablespoons of chia seeds, then blend and let sit 30 minutes
