London under the ☀️! What is your favorite place in London? Let me know 🤔
I went down to Long Beach Island a little more than 2 months after Hurricane Sandy blasted it. It was late December and the island was eerily empty. It is usually empty in the winter, but the storm really kept the people away. It was interesting walking around in the freezing wind, surveying the damage and seeing things that ordinarily aren't there. Things like barbed wire stuck in the sand, different types of seashells that were seemingly churned up by rough water, and debris everywhere were proof that thus storm took no prisoners. I read reports of WW2 munitions washing up just a few blocks away. I came across this track in the sand. I assume it was some sort of bulldozer that was sadly pushing the wreckage of a family's summer dreams to it's final resting place. I took a ton of photos that day because things were so different. The beach was hardly recognizable. This track, to me, made the beach look extraterrestrial like some moon crater or a valley the Mars Rover was exploring. The beach was back to normal a few months later, but this photo is a reminder of the deep scars Sandy left. #newjersey#jersey#jerseystrong#beach#lbi#sand#travel#travelgram#travelstagram#natgeo#storm#superstormsandy#wanderlust#picoftheday#photooftheday
