It's always good to be switching up your workouts and movements so your body doesn't get used to everything and hit a plateau so today I did a high rep, high intense lower body workout, and let me tell you... I was working up a sweat. 😂👌🏼 TRX training has so many benefits and can be used for all different types of training and used to train any type of body parts! I highly recommend you try TRX, if you are a beginner or been at the gym for a while.

When traveling for long periods of time,  it is easy to lose track of your fitness goals.  Although this is not my case,  I did reduce my workout intensity for the sake of enjoying this trip.  Here is a video that I did on my second or third day in SoCal.

This was yesterday's lower body workout and boy am I suffering with the DOMS!  I'm literally groaning every time I bend down to pick something up.....I needed just two bits of equipment (TRX and a band) and I'm certainly feeling the burn today. I'm finding single leg exercises keep the load off my back (thanks @cat1233 for the tip) and I can get a decent workout in. -----------

Will better sleep help you avoid extra pounds?

Could lack of sleep be causing you to gain weight?

Think about it: If you’re feeling sleepy at work, you may be tempted to reach for a cup of coffee (or several cups) and a doughnut for a quick shot of energy. Later you may skip the gym and pick up takeout on your way home to your family -- no time to cook. When you finally find yourself back in your bed, you are too wound up to sleep.

It’s a vicious cycle, and eventually this sleep deprivation can sabotage your waistline and your health.

The immediate result? You may be able to fight off sleepiness. The ultimate result? Unwanted pounds as poor food choices coupled with lack of exercise set the stage for obesity and further sleep loss.

Exactly how lack of sleep affects our ability to lose weight has a lot to do with our nightly hormones

The two hormones that are key in this process are ghrelin and leptin. Ghrelin is the ‘go’ hormone that tells you when to eat, and when you are sleep-deprived, you have more ghrelin. Leptin is the hormone that tells you to stop eating, and when you are sleep deprived, you have less leptin.

More ghrelin plus less leptin equals weight gain.

You are eating more, plus your metabolism is slower when you are sleep-deprived.

Exactly how lack of sleep affects our ability to lose weight has a lot to do with our nightly hormones

The two hormones that are key in this process are ghrelin and leptin. Ghrelin is the ‘go’ hormone that tells you when to eat, and when you are sleep-deprived, you have more ghrelin. Leptin is the hormone that tells you to stop eating, and when you are sleep deprived, you have less leptin.

More ghrelin plus less leptin equals weight gain.

You are eating more, plus your metabolism is slower when you are sleep-deprived.

LEGS SERIES : HAMSTRINGS 
EXERCISE : ONE-LEG DEADLIFT

TECHNIQUE :

1) Start by setting up some TRX straps so that the handles are at hip height. Grab the handles using an overhand grip (palms down) with hands together. 1️⃣
2) Maintaining a nice straight back with your head up and core tight and aligned, bend at the hip thrusting your right leg back out behind you at the same time as extending both arms out in front of you using the straps for support. Your leg and torso should form a straight line.2️⃣
3) Pause briefly and then straighten back up to the start position 1️⃣. You should feel the tension in your left hamstring.
4) Repeat for the desired number of repetitions/sets and alternate between legs. 
NB : Keep your core tight and back straight. Perform in control, slowly. Breathe out during the work phase and in during the return phase. *Always consult a medical professional before starting an exercise programme.
