[Focused Friday] 
As my accountability group enters the final week of our 3 week program, I am making it a priority to focus on my water intake. Yes, I know it looks like urine. #nurselife #nursesofinstagram .

Water intake has been not always been a priority in my past, but I have been finding ways to improve my intake. I most recently started flavoring it with crystal light, from the little squirt bottles. Note: a little goes a long way!! It is easy to add and small enough to carry with me, a long with this bottle. 😉 .

So what are the benefits of water and why should you choose that over other drinks? 💦Water flushes toxins, help those kidneys out!! 💦Water is good for your skin, moisturize it, it's your largest organ!!
💦Water is known to boost metabolism and energy, who doesn't want that?!
💦Water is a natural remedy for headaches, often due to dehydration. 💦Water helps increase alertness because your brain is mostly made up of water.

Having CONFIDENCE in yourself doesn’t magically happen. 
It’s generated when you DO what the f*ck you SAY you’re gonna DO. 🤘🏼 And sometimes (a lot of the time) that means doing “hard” things. 
Things outside of your comfort zone. 
Things that make you wanna puke because you’re so nervous. 
And some things that definitely make you want to hit the snooze button (like getting up at 5am for a workout when your bed (and husband & puppy) is nice & snuggly.  #StillFeelsWeirdToSayHusband 🙊) But listen, girl. 
It doesn’t always have to be “hard”. ✋🏼 “Hard” is a relative term. 
Living your life insecure is hard. 
Faking your smile is hard. 
Convincing yourself that you’re okay with giving up on those goals you really wanted is hard. 
So, c h o o s e your hard. 
And I promise, when you start to DO those very things that you keep convincing yourself are “too hard” for you, you’ll start to impress yoself 😎 and make little “deposits” into that confidence bank you’ve been so desperately saying you want to build. {{Unless, of course, it’s the “too hard” like eating an entire 20” pizza 🍕 or taking 7 shots in an hour 🥃 — been there, and it certainly doesn’t land you in any tidal wave of self-confidence 😳🙈 but I digress 🤷🏼‍♀️}} Anyway!  If everyone had a little more self-love and confidence, I’m convinced the world would be a better (and happier!) place. 🌎🌈 Because when you love yourself enough to NOT QUIT on yourself and are confident with who YOU are by honoring your commitments you made to YOU, you give permission to others to do the same. ✌🏼💕 PS - Next week, my team is opening our virtual morning workout “class” to anyone who’s been saying they want to start this new habit, but can’t get out of their own way. What Weight is your Goal? 
Everyone has different goals. I predominantly focus more on the weight of my barbell going up, than the weight of my scales I’m stood on going down. But the great benefit is when the weight on my bar goes up, the weight on the scales do go down. As your muscle mass increases your metabolic rate will increase and you will burn more calories throughout the day. 
Over the next few months I am going to be using @underarmour HEALTH BOX (I have my wristband as you can see on to track my activity and even more importantly my sleep as recovery is key to progress) I have my scales to measure my body fat percentage and my heart rate monitor to track my workouts.

I am not waiting until January to write my goals… Here they are:
🛑 10 Strict Pull Ups
🛑 New Clean and Jerk PB (Over 60kg)
🛑 Sub 8minute 2km Row
🛑 2mins Unbroken Wall Balls

On Instagram we see so many transformations and aesthetics goals which is great and inspiring …. BUT I want to know:

Plugged in a 10k run and some OCR work followed by 3 rounds of grip work on the rings and bars (tried my luck on the hanging chains for the final set but wasn't 'lucky' enough to get a hold of the other 🤣) Then a blister under one of the calluses to nurse right after. ⛑

When you make a really far fetched goal that you kinda don't even think you can achieve, you sign up to watch God's best work...

I've always had dreams "too big" that got me into trouble. I'd get jazzed about something right away but then bail halfway in because the dream was so big it was hard to even break down into manageable steps. Now, things are changing.

This time, I'm going to complete a marathon. I'm crossing the finishline of a 26.2 mile run in March. (and I DON'T even like to run..) But I'm |crazy| enough to believe that God called me to this. And my doubt and below average running skill are evidence that I probably heard Him correct..
•
I will finish this race. & I know I'll finish it because it's -not about me-. I'm not doing it to get into shape, get stronger, or even prove to myself that I can. I'm doing it because my privilege in this western world makes me sick. But with this privilege, I can & WILL make a difference for the 800+ million people living without access to clean water. It's unfair that I have what I have simply because of where I was born. And I can't sit back and just do nothing about it.

BUT, I know how important it is to drink because it: flushes toxins, increases metabolism & energy, it is great for skin, helps repair muscle, promotes regulatory and it helps boost our immune system. He is my why, he is my reason to keep going! I often feel like we tend to focus on the physical aspects of our fitness journey. But I think you should dig a little deeper and look at the big picture. What is your why? If you were to reach your physical goals what would keep you going? People don’t get the body of their dreams and then say ok that’s done, it’s time quit. You have to have a bigger reason that keeps you going. When you find it, you will be unstoppable. This guy right here keeps me going everyday. I want to be healthy and strong for him. I want to be able to keep up with him and play with him. When I feel like quitting, I can take one look at him and see that it’s so much bigger than me. I have to keep going for him and for our family!

Seeing this photo brings back many bad memories. It was taken as I was jumping over a barrier just after I had fallen over the previous one (you can see the pain in my face). I was fitter than ever going into this race, and had high hopes that this performance would set me up to attain all of my goals for the rest of the season. Sadly, it did the opposite, resulting in an injury that would leave a bitter taste in my mouth and a disappoiting end to my collegiate running career.  I have grown a lot since then, and I am more motivated than ever. Track season is just around the corner and I am confident in the mileage base I've been building for months. I may not be on a college team anymore but I will always have my family, my friends, and my community there to support me. The sport I love has injured me several times, but each injury is a new lesson learned. Running gives me so much joy and it fuels my love of perpetual self-improvement. ·

That time my “work conference” required me to fulfill a life-long dream of being on a WipeOut course 😛🤘🏼 If it’s not obvious by this picture (see: Top Left 🤸🏼‍♀️), I wasn’t as good at it as I had envisioned in my dreams 🤦🏼‍♀️🙃👻 #FacePlantCity 
But you know what’s funny?  Life is kinda like a WipeOut course sometimes 🤷🏼‍♀️ Just when you think you’re gonna really rock at something or when you feel like you’ve got your footing, a massive obstacle comes up, knocks you on your face, and humbles you. 👊🏼 But in that moment, you have two choices: 
stay down and dwell on the fact that things didn’t go as expected OR try to see the humor in it, get back up and give it another go, knowing you’ll improve every time. 🏃🏼‍♀️🙏🏼 I know this may be a little deep here given the subject matter of the pic 😂 but honestly, I’ve been going through some hypothetical “wipeouts” this year and I’m so proud to say that no matter what, I’ve always gotten back up. 💪🏼 STRENGTH isn’t about not falling; it’s about not staying there when you do ✌🏼💕 #HumpDayVibes #KeepGoing
