Third and final run on the malaria vaccine trials here in Oxford! Thinking about signing up as a volunteer for the next one, who's keen? 😉 If you fancy getting involved (for a handsome reimbursement package) go check out the website (www.jenner.ac.uk/clinicaltrials) #bitememalaria#nerdforlife#spreadtheword
All you need are these: certainty of judgement in the present moment; action for the common good in the present moment; and an attitude of gratitude in the present moment for anything that comes your way. - Marcus Aurelius.
Forget toys and the indoors, freedom to run in a new place is all that my mini-explorer wants. Thankfully there are some pedestranised cobbled streets in Chester city centre so we let him go 'wild'. He thought he was in charge and we wore him out so that we could sightsee once he fell asleep. Plus they were only a few minutes from our base for the night. Happy days indeed, eh?!
"Some people drink to forget their unhappiness. I do not drink, I build" - William Beckford
Beckford’s Tower was built between 1825 and 1827 by #eccentric connoisseur and collector William Beckford as his museum and #treasure house. He was a lively and #colourful character, fond of music and the arts. Each morning, accompanied by his dwarf and pack of spaniels, Beckford would ride up Lansdown Road to his tower to play with his treasures in its #opulent rooms.
We wanted to recreate the flavour of William Beckford’s #extravagant#interiors . The above image is a #watercolour of the Scarlet Drawing Room by Wiles Maddox, who was commissioned by Beckford to illustrate the Tower’s interiors in 1843. We used this watercolour (top half) as a template for the #refurbishment of the Scarlet Drawing Room, seen in the bottom half.
