A MINIMALIST IN SUMMER // This weekends wonderful weather has got me thinking about how I'd like to spend Summer. I'm thinking about keeping my wardrobe basic and lightweight and my fridge organic and fresh.... #backtobasics 🍉💛
🙌 the artisans and seamstresses behind @maisonvalentino ・・・#repost “This award is an important recognition to the value of the work of all the people that have contributed and presently contribute to the success of Maison Valentino and that allow me to continue to dream of new adventures. A Haute Couture Atelier in Piazza Mignanelli in Rome, is the example of what eco-sustainability means for me: the Italian tradition of the Bottega dell’Arte that is passed on to the new generations exploiting the dignity of handicraft and the uniqueness of the people". Creative Director #PierpaoloPiccioli said at the #GCFAItalia @GreenCarpetFashionAwards by @CameraModa in collaboration with @EcoAge
@iluut_official chooses carefully the very best suppliers to work with. We love to cooperate with them to create beautiful and sustainable garments. 🌿The production of our fabrics is carried out paying close attention to savings of water and energy and the use of renewable sources. The production cycle is fully traceable and our fabrics are Oeko-Tex certificated to ensure no harmful chemicals are used in the process.
Don't faint but I'm giving a shout out to my friends company @grown_clothing this morning. Trying to keep a balance & show all clothes options 😉. It's all about ethical clothes production & planting trees....and you know me, I don't really know what I'm talking about but it's about people doing good things for the world, gotta be worth a shout out of a Tuesday 😉 #whomademyclothes#grownclothing#grown
Meet the makers.
The Büyükasiks are an amazing atelier that we work with in Hatay. A true family business, their craft has been passed down the generations with both father, son and Uncle working together as master weavers using traditional wooden shuttle looms.
Their craftsmanship can be seen in our Kümsal peshtemals and soon to be launched Özlem and Bedia blankets.
It's Bedia in this picture - she is the matriarch of the family and nothing gets passed her keen eye for quality control.
Today is a good day for Bedia, she has just become a Grandma (or 'Nin-a' in Turkish) for the second time!
It's a privilege to work with families like theirs with a true passion for their craft and to know that we help support each other in our small businesses.
Rocking my new @drmartensofficial Chelsea boots today! I invested in these beauts after creating my capsule wardrobe and realising that my pieces would really benefit from a pair of black flat boots. I was pretty impressed by the company statement on ethics, environment and sustainability. You can check it out here http://bit.ly/1z14fML I'm hoping they will last me a lifetime and get even better with age. I know they do a #vegan version too but I've heard stories they're not as good quality so didn't want to end up buying twice! Anyone had any experience? So far I'm loving these ❤ #capsulewardrobe#sustainablefashion#sustainableblogger#whomademyclothes#ootd#ethicalfashion#ecowarrior#thetruecost
The Ethical Closet
No.5 - Ethical brands
Having a tight budget doesn't mean you have to stop building your own ethical closet. It does mean you may need to choose what you buy a little more carefully though.
Choosing brands that already have a ethical stand point, source materials for products in a sustainable way and give back to the local economy are abundant. A simple search through the companies website will tell you all you need to know. Also you will feel happier in buying from these companies as you know the shoes you wear have also helped the people that have made them.
Who wants to remain blind? 🙀Overall apparel consumption will rise by 63% to 102 million tons in 2030. There are lots of #amazing sustainable fashion label fighting to help the planet! Look for them in our magazine 💚🙌🌱
Throwback to one of the most special pieces of clothing we've made at Manjha. A pink ikat reversible jacket made with a repurposed saree used to the fabric inside, with embedded flower motifs and hand embroidered words which Stacy and I wrote to one another.
In the words of the wonderful, kind and strong Stacy Jacobs - #Repost @stajo12 ・・・
#onwednesdayswewearpink Please join me in celebrating the creativity and talent of my dear friends at @manjha.shop who designed and created this perfect spring jacket for me. The inestimably lovely @niki.seth kept me company with design updates while I was recovering from all that illness earlier in the month and I will be forever and #alwaysingratitude to her for her friendship. Remember that letter she wrote me? Niki's words had a big impact on me: Positivity lasts longer. I especially love that our words are embroidered in Niki's handwriting. 💞💞💞 Life happens, sometimes wonderfully and sometimes less so. But in every case, #positivitylastslonger#didyougetthatinindia (yes! You'll find @manjha.shop on #etsy ... check them out, then keep them on speed dial!) #ikat#iwearhandloom#whomademyclothes#fashion_rev#indianfashion#indiandesigner • thank you for all the love that you shower everywhere you go! The world could do with some more Stacy's :)
