I always thought it was strange that I’m heat sometimes I felt hot from the inside and when doing things to cool down it would only really cool my skin and I’d be boiling 2 seconds later. After a beautiful morning flow in Bali my yoga teacher said to the class ‘if you guys feel hot from the inside drink some coconut water’ I was so excited to see if it worked that I didn’t even ask her WHY but I kid you not this actually helps! Anyway just thought I would share this info in hope to help somebody else 🌴

♥️ Wheel Pose has always been accessible to my body. Growing up a gymnast and a dancer has allowed me to solidify into flexibility and movement, even in my most stagnant years. I am so grateful that a heart opener is one of my favorite poses; if I had to describe myself through the years? I don’t know if it would include “an open heart.” Knowing that my body reflects who I am in the inside though, I am changing that judgment now. I am an open-hearted individual by nature. Through the pain and the grief I have experienced, the truth of my soul really is that I am a gracious and giving woman. Those aspects might have been hidden for a while, but if Wheel Pose can reflect anything about my soul, it’s that I am wise, open, and always striving to listen to my inner intelligence.
♥️ I am so sad that this challenge is ending. It has truly been an incredible experience for me. One that has opened me to new aspects of myself. I am grateful for all of the hosts and the sponsors, and I am sending my heart to all of you as a giant yogi hug! 🧘♀️

Hello amazing people! I just wanted to take some time out to introduce myself to all my new followers!
My name is Jen and I'm the person behind the website Buddha Belly. Buddha Belly was a brainchild of mine when I was struggling to find myself when I couldn't workout due to chronic pain. I wanted to create something that would help others who felt isolated by their chronic pain, express myself and help anyone on their journey to live a healthier life. I had to stop lifting heavy and was terrified that the rest of my life would be horrible stomach pain. I had surgery to address my Endo, but I ended up getting worse and pelvic PT was doing nothing. I had to take Norco, a highly addictive opioid, to be able to work. I tried one last PT and I felt like I was exactly where I belonged. Turns out my hip surgery from 2011 had created a ton of scar tissue that had basically been effecting everything. I finally went to go see my old hip surgeon and they gave me a steroid shot in the front of my hip to see whether it was causing the pain or not. Turns out it was!
During all of this time I dealt with severe depression and anxiety because of the pain and I had to face my issues with over exercising/poor body image. I'm reminded of this so much as Thanksgiving comes near. I have amazing friends and family who saw me through one of the most painful times of my life. I was able to start a blog to share my passions with others. I was able change my views about what health looks like and, although I don't have visible ab muscles anymore, I know that I am doing what is best for me.
If you are at all lost please know you are not alone. Pretty much everyone you see is still trying to find their way even if they seem like they have it all together. I know I am.

Walking in the Wheel for #KickoversNLeftovers day 4 🧡
I was pretty tired today, life is BUSY right now. So when I got to the gym I couldn’t really motivate myself to work hard. I spent about half an hour doing some gentle stretching then gave this a go and I surprised myself with what my spine can do. I guess I’m gunna have to start admitting that I’m quite bendy?! 🤔
Anyway, chest to wall is no longer particularly challenging so walked my hands away from the wall to go deeper. When I look at this even I struggle to believe that I have trouble with kickovers 😂🤷🏼♀️ Lazy Liv didn’t have the motivation to try a kickover afterwards, looks like that idea has gone down the pan 🤣

Pre-Thanksgiving goodness! Roasted Veggie Bowl with Homemade Tomato Herb Dressing 💫 •
This time of year is hard on those of us with digestive issues so I stick to plant-based Whole Foods as much as possible. I've been making warm, yummy dishes that are a mix between low-fodmap and vata balancing. Read below for my bowl recipe but feel free to remix as much as you want! •
✨Veggies: Slice veggies of your choice (I went with beets, sweet potatoes, reg potatoes, zucchini, mushrooms), coat with olive oil, and flavor with pink salt + black pepper + nutritional yeast (optional). Bake for 25-35 mins on 400 degrees and broil on 525 for the last 5 mins to give crispy crunch!
✨Greens: Sauté greens of your choice in olive oil and a pinch of salt - kale + arugula here
✨Dressing: Lightly sauté tomatoes + mushrooms, add to blender with basil, water, olive oil, Vinegar, and spices to taste •

This week has been the first week I’ve been able to feel my body balance out upside down. I’ve also discovered a character trait of mine, persistence. I used to think of it as a stubbornness but as I’m growing I’ve come to find that it is much more complex then that. It is not a matter of being right or having something my way, it is about achieving something that at some point I couldn’t do. It is so easy to say that you can’t do something. It is much harder to prove yourself wrong. Who would have thought standing upside down would lead to a new life realization.

Astavakrasana!! When I learned that I had the strength and stability to do this pose, my mind was blown 🙎💥 I had always thought it took ridiculous upper body strength and core and flexibility and all the things, but it's actually not as hard as it looks!! It made me fall in love with yoga in a whole new way, and I've been an arm balance addict ever since❣️ This pose reminds me that we shouldn't let our fears or insecurities get in the way of trying something new, even if it seems impossible. If we try, we may learn that we have more strength and ability than we ever thought, and we've had it within us the whole time 😊🙏❤️ This has been such a fun yoga challenge!!
