Today is my girl @leibarbie's birthday, and I thought beside the actual gifts I have got her, what better way to celebrate her than with an appreciation post?! I met Candy at my first training, so she is legitimately my day one. She was pretty shy and awkward, but we connected over both being vegans. She even made a Facebook status about me that night, despite us not being friends on Facebook. From there our friendship blossomed, and before I knew it we were talking every day, going out eating and drinking with each other, and becoming each other's biggest supporters with wrestling. She was the person I gushed to when my boyfriend first started talking to me. I was there with her in the bathroom encouraging her before her first match. We have vented, cried, and laughed together countless times. She drives me absolutely up the wall, but she has such a good heart that I can never stay mad at her for long. In the year and a bit I've known her, she has become a best friend, a sister, and a daughter all at once.
Recently Candy has openly come out as transgender. It's something I've been encouraging her to do for a very long time. I knew that even though there was going to be ignorant negativity, that it was important to embrace her true self and be a voice for the transgender community. Since coming out, she's had so much love and support, and a crazy amount of media exposure. We both know that it was the right decision, and I only see good things coming from it.
Candy, or as I know you, Leilani, there is so much I could say about you. Our friendship is so important to me. I will always have your back. I will always be there to reel you in when you're being a butt. I will always be your tag team partner #HotMess . I will always be there for you. You are such a wonderful, special person, and I hope you feel extra loved on this day 🍭
