Did you know that in Indonesian, 'Orang' means person and 'utan' means forest. Orangutans are true people of the forest, and that's why we love them. πŸ“· @wwf_uk

The legendary Dr. BirutΓ© Mary Galdikas who's revolutionary work with Bornean Orangutans in their natural habitat has changed the way we understand these distant cousins. We are very lucky to have visited Camp Leaky in Tanjung Puting which Dr. Galdikas set up to protect and monitor abandoned baby orangutans whose mothers had been killed by illegal loggers and palm oil companies. What an amazing woman πŸ™

Critically Endangered Socks founder @dominic_desmond is in Sungai Cabang beach in Indonesia releasing the critically endangered Hawksbill turtles back into the sea. There are only 23,000 nesting females left in the world. Their nests are attacked by wild pigs 🐷 and sea snakes 🐍 so the national park rangers find and save the baby eggs, allowing them to hatch in a safe, protected location. Once hatched the rangers keep the baby Hawksbill Turtles 🐒 for a further month making sure they are fit enough to make their own way in the big sea 🌊 before being released. We feel very privileged to be able to help the rangers in their mission 🐒πŸ’ͺ

With only 70 left in the wild, the Amur Leopard is on the brink of extinction. Which is why our socks are helping the 'Amur Leopard and Tiger Association' bring their numbers back before they are gone
