Experience semi-nomad life in alpine pasture in Kyrgyzstan. Local families go in summer to high mountain pastures and live in yurts, ride horses and share their spare yurts with travelers. This pasture is located at Son Kul lake at an altitude of 3016 meters.

Fake it till you make it. That was the plan when we signed up for a 3 day horse trek in the Terksey Alatau mountain range in the Issyk-Kul Region of Kyrgyzstan. Our only prior experience was with a gentle 2 hour ride through tobacco fields in Cuba. Here we are on tamed wild horses riding up and down mountain trails, across rivers, and through forests. Day 1 was super bumpy, but by Day 3 we loved the gentle rhythm of the trail from atop our horses! .
Post coming soon on this gentler northern region of Kyrgyzstan with amazing mountain trails!
